So after all the debate last year about who is the greatest player in the world, which one will out do the other when they come face to face in La Liga this year?

Messi is better imo as he can do something regardless of space, whereas Ronaldo struggles more (though is still good obviously) when in a tight space. Ronaldo is at his best charging towards people at pace.

That said, I think Real will win the league.

More important, Athletic will get distracted by the Europa League and be relegated :'(

Ronaldo on paper should be,surely?

He fucking tore apart the prem for seasons and the overall standard of defending in La Liga is poor, So I'd imagine he'd be just as, if not more effective there

I think Ronaldo is gonna tear that league to pieces. More than Messi too.

as long as he stays on his feet

I can see Ronaldo having an amazing few seasons in Spain. He will get a lot more time than he ever got in the Premiership and he will also have more freekicks as fouls seem to be easier to get over there (potential sweeping statement).

i dont get it why is the la liga shit on defence midfield forwards cos we prem sides like to buy from the shit leagues

Messi. They are players with comparable skill, one in a completely new, unknown team chock full of ego, the other in an established team where he is completely comfortable in his role.

Plus, fuck Ronaldo. You can't overlook that particular piece of damning evidence.

Messi. As always. He's always been better than the waiter and always will be.
I couldn't give a flying fuck if the prick scored 40goals against relegation fodder.

If 'El Classico' lives up to even a quarter of the hype it's going to get this year, we'll be in for two fantastic games.... looking forward to it.

Ronaldo's the better footballer, and I think he could be even more effective in La Liga, where the defending is less physical and freekicks are plentiful.

It'll depend how the Madrid team settles down, of course, but given time Ronaldo will prove himself ahead of Messi.

It'll be interesting to see how he settles there after all the debates, definitely.

Firstly, where will Real play him? Will they build the team around him and give him the same sort of freedom to score goals he had at Man Utd? Will the other players at Real be as happy to play for the team as Rooney, Tevez et al were?

Secondly, if the lesser teams start playing against Real as they did against Barca often - two banks of four ten metres apart from each other on a damage limitation exercise - will he shine just as easily with virtually no space to operate in and being double / triple marked for 90mins? I don't doubt that he can.. but again, it'll be interesting to see if / how he does.

I expect Ronaldo to come out on top. Such is his athleticism he has even more to his game than Messi. You can play Ronaldo on his own up front if need be like the mancs did in europe over the last couple of years. They can both play spectacularly between the lines but Ronaldo is better as an out and out striker and if Benzema gets off to a slow start i wouldn't be surprised to see him up top banging them in. I think Ronaldo will smash La Liga.
