Indeed.

Blast from the past:

Hodgson insisted: 'That was as good as we have played all season, and I have no qualms with the performance whatsoever. I only hope fair-minded people will see it the same way.
'It's just unfortunate that such a good game of football, a real credit to the Premier League, will revolve round the fact that Liverpool did not win.
'It was a sterling effort by the players, especially after Everton's second goal went in. Pressure builds up, of course, but we will cope with that.'

Everton - Liverpool 2-0

Crazy!

I never saw the full extent of that Hodgson quote before, you forget just how mad he was. I had a visceral dislike of him way before he said that so as soon as i heard the first stanza I must have been too busy screaming at the telly to hear the rest...

It's truly one of the most mental things ive ever heard a Liverpool manager say.

As for Rodgers.... I'm just happy we didn't fucking lose.

"Wonderful character"
Bullshit

"The equaliser was irrelevant"
Yeah, another goal from a set piece. irrelevant. See Stoke on Saturday.

"Great effort by the players tonight, I thought they were outstanding"
Bullshit

"We showed wonderful resilience"
Meh

"Tonight is a real confidence booster for us"
Gk making critical error, losing another lead right at the death, yeah great confidence booster.

"Overall it was a performance I was very very pleased with"
Bullshit

No, he's not.

England are doing well so maybe there's been some Freaky Friday shit happening and we've got Woy back at the helm?

I find his rapid demise genuinely saddening and disturbing. It only seems like yesterday we were hoping he'd be our Manager for the next decade. Now there's serious questions about whether he'll see out the season or possibly hold out til the summer before an inevitable separation.

I'm 50:50 on it myself, I said 'Rodgers out' after Palace away but it was heat of the moment stuff and I'd love nothing more than him to turn it around and become the self assured, astute Manager he was last season. However, the fact this is now his third season and he's failed to address key weaknesses in the team despite serious money being spent is one of a number of concerns.

Come on Brendan, you're better than this.

He knows confidence is at an all-time low (during his reign) so it's no surprise he is bigging up the performance.

Yup ... It's cringeworthy but he has to get the lads believing in not only themselves as a team, but himself ... Don't know if there's a way out - but a win in Stoke will assuage the pressure big time

Getting the confidence up is vital to getting us playing better. It's cringeworthy to read/hear but if we see an upturn in results I won't care. Doesn't gloss over Brendan's mistakes though.

I can't believe I haven't got more initial love for 'Rodgson'.

Thought Carolltelli was pretty good the other day too, and received donuts for that as well.

Tough crowd.

Obviously he couldn't come out and say we were wank again, but you'd have thought he'd have gone down the line of 'we must improve, we're better than this'. It's like he's happy that we're at best average.
Does Gerrard think that was a good performance and it was a good result? Do the owners? Do the fans?
Rodgers is in real trouble at the moment, we've got Stoke, Leicester, Sunderland and the scum. If he loses 2 or 3 of those, we could end up with Kenny as caretaker manager.

It was more reminiscent of Houllier when, time and again after woeful performances, he'd churn out all the usual platitudes. Rodgers hasn't quite moved on to the next level of Ged's madness, citing stats on corners and shots, but he's heading there.

I don't understand how we were resilient

Perhaps because we didn't lose.

Houllier blamed everyone but himself.
The pitch, the ref, the linesman, the weather, Ginola

Rodgson is very good. Had a chuckle at it. Carrolltelli is fairly shit though.

Irrelevant equaliser.
You wont be saying that if we don't beat Basel, mate.

I don't condone that shit interview but we have to beat Basle regardless. If we won last night a draw still wouldn't be enough against Basle.

Rodgson is a cracking name but still a bit harsh on Brendan. I don't overly like Rogers but I despise Hodgson.

I like Rogers and i dont want him sacked, I truly hope we can recover from this mess and that if we do he learns from the mistakes he has made.

Start with Mig.

Every manager starts talking shite when things go against them. No point in parsing through their press statements and trying to decipher what they mean.
