Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler is to join MK Dons as a coach in February.

The 35-year-old will first finish his playing stint with Australian side Perth Glory where he has been criticised for his lack of goals but came back with a hat-trick last week in a 3-1 win over Melbourne Victory.

Fowler knows MK Dons manager Karl Robinson from their time at Liverpool where Robinson was an academy coach and worked briefly with the Dons squad in May.

Robinson said: 'When his season finishes he'll be over on a regular basis working with the forwards as part of my coaching team.'

Robinson, who is five years younger than Fowler, also has Fowler's friend Dietmar Hamann as player-coach.

The German has taken on further responsibility following first-team coach Alex Rae's decision to join Paul Ince at Notts County.

Booo. First Macca, then God.

I wanna hate MK dons for signifying the final death knoll for English footy. At least to me. When they allowed the club to be moved & "rebranded" that finally proved there is no trace of heart or emotion left within the game past the love of the fans.

When they are attached to them I feel I should support them. Boooo.

"Hamman wins posession, threads a wonderful ball through to Fowler, he takes it past one defender, two, and lobs the keeper for a phenomenal finish! MK Dons are through to the FA cup final to face the mightly Liverpool"

Then I woke up..

He was on fox sports in aus here tonight and said those rumours are a load of shit.

yay, good.

Agreed. When Robbie's interviewed he strikes me as brighter than he's often given credit for, but his game is based not on analysis but on flair and instinct. It would be hard to imagine anyone less likely to make a good coach.

Hmmmm, with a talent like God's I'd imagine it would be impossible to teach, translate or even explain.

How does he finish like that? He just can.
