Robbie Savage retiring - Any thoughts?

He was booed because he was thick thug of a footballer.

He's mellowed in recent years, partly due to his media involvements I'm guessing but he's still a mug.

He's the football, and now, ugh, media, equivalent of someone's really fucking annoying kid brother.

He's a twat and his presence on the BBC offends me.

The cunt won a Sony Award, last night, for Best Newcomer, or something.

Anyone heard him on 606 ?

Fucking shambles.

he's a thick twat. it takes something special to really stand out among football pundits in the thick twat stakes, but our robbie does it precociously.

He's a complete dickhead with the dress sense of a myopic lunatic.

ditto, thankfully he won't be missed

He is a twat and has no time for Liverpudlians so I don't really care too much for him, although I read somewhere that he was meant to be a Liverpool supporter.

regards

I'm gutted he is retiring, really really gutted. He played for Derby or some other team in the Championship, it means I don't ever get to see/hear him.

Now that he is retired he will be on 606 and 5live more often and he is flipping terrible on there, bloody terrible he single handedly brings down 5live and the beeb about twenty thousand notches I flipping hate him on there.

I was listening the other night when he was begging people to vote for him in the newcomer award. He is shit, he was shit when England played Wales in the build up was banging on and on and I was over the moon when they lost.

I agree with mostly everybody saying he's a twat and irritating to listen too, however on the odd occasion he comes off with some really funny stuff.

I think if you hate him, you're taking him a bit too seriously.

nah, he's just an unfunny cunt that thinks he's mr big bollocks

I don't think he does. I think he's being ironic. But even if he isn't, he's got no real malice, and he's never said a bad word about Liverpool.

As a player he was a reet dirty **** though.

Yeah I've never really got all the Robbie Savage hate to be honest , to me he was always more of a pantomime villain than an actual hate figure .

I met him once at a very relaxed pre season tour game a few years ago and had a good 10 minute chat with him .Now don't get me wrong , he's an absolute tooler but he's harmless, seemed very down to earth and was very friendly . It was his first game back after he broke his leg and he was telling me how nervous he was . You should have seen the size of the bump over where the bone was healing, it was freaky , he had to wear special shin pads . He was also telling me about how he got the shits from a BBQ he'd had the night before and if i remember correctly he was also giving advice on how to grow a lovely mop of hair like his own .
So yeah , he's a right annoying fool , having a laugh winding people up but is basically harmless .

Yeah, agreed.

Any footballer who doesn't take themselves too seriously gets a tiny little bit of my respect. Even if it is Robbie bloody Savage.

That's a fair enough summary as far as it goes but, when he succeeds in winding people up, some "hate" that more than others. Different strokes, and all that.

He sounds like good craic so!

His wife went to the same primary school as me. Her elder brother was in the year below me.

Gayton, before anyone asks.
