I've always thought that his story is the closest to a 'Roy of the Rovers' story from my youth.
He had at least one superb season and many high points.
I realise he's not a pauper by any stretch of the imagination but I still think he's the inspiration for every 'nearly man' in football. He's proof that perseverance pays off.
