Reina 7 Claimed almost all that he came for. Good game from Pepe.

Kelly 6 Solid in defence. Didn't see as much of him going forward today.

Agger 7 I thought he marshalled the defence well. A clean sheet at last!

Skrtel 6 A better game but still prone to silly mistakes.

Johnson 7 Solid in defence, stuggled with his footing going forward on a dreadful pitch. Extra point for the haircut.

Maxi 6.5 Some good supporting play for Torres and should have done better with a couple of shooting opportunities.

Kuyt 6.5 Steady game from Dirk. A bit more pace and he'd have bagged a brace today.

Poulson 5 Not good enough for Liverpool. Stupid early foul to get a yellow and gave the ball away regularly. Extra point for the nice pass to Raul that led to the first goal.

Lucas 6 Gave away two ridiculous fouls in danger areas. Worked hard but not good enough for Liverpool.

Meireles 9 MOM Great assist for Torres' 1st, fantastic goal, superb set up for Shelvey. Marvellous game from the Portuguese.

Torres 8 Two well taken goals in a menacing performance from the Matador. I liked the way he picked up the ball after his opener and politely handed it to the centre back who had fouled him earlier.

The whole team performed well.

Its difficult to fault both Poulsen and Lucas today. They put in a shift.
 
Poulsen had a good first half, but in the second half went back to all that is bad about him. Thought Kenny would never take him off.
 
Poulson had a good game, thought the ref was harsh booking him, and he did get caught in possession once, but an improvement on what we have seen of him so far.

Kenny can go away and win by 3 goals with Poulson and Lucas in Midfield!

In only his second away game too!

Its marvelous when we have a manager who knows what he is doing in charge.
 
I've really liked Kelly, but I think these ratings are generous for him this game. Jarvis went past him several times, and eventually Kelly had to stand off him too much. If it had been Johnson doing the same, he'd have been excoriated on here.

Not saying it was some awful display, but it did point out that there's a lot to work on in his game as well, and he's not that fast to turn, even though he's a quick player.

I'll have to disagree regarding Poulsen. He was decent untill we went 2-0 up and they started to put us under more pressure. He almost single handedly let them back into it by giving the ball away very dangerously a couple of times. I was very relieved when he was subbed.

Pressure on the opponents from the off, a lot of possession enjoyed and loads of surging runs from midfield in particularly. Raul was outstanding in this very aspect of the game in my opinion.

Reina kept a clean-sheet and as it's been a while it'll do wonder for his confidence. Great keeper.

Skrtel was much improved alongside Agger who once again pulled the strings in defence. We probably wouldn't have conceeded twice against Everton had he been able to stay on the pitch. They looked decent alongside eachother and they both put in a performance worthy of a clean-sheet.

Kelly struggled a bit but he's got so much grit, talent, pace, power etc. etc. that it didn't really matter. He's a proper first-team player already.

Glen Johnson looked almost strangely focused. Perhaps it's the out-of-position role that makes him try a bit more along our more positive approach overall. One of our best performers in my opinion. Got stuck in, tackled, harrassed and played football the way it should be played from the back.

Central midfield. Lucas and Poulsen. I dreaded that CM pairing and with Poulsen getting booked within a few minutes I dreaded the outcome even more. I'm glad they proved me, you and most pundits wrong yesterday mind, as they both put in a good shift. Poulsen tired up towards the hour-mark and went back to his sloppy, unusual self (unusual from the one I remember that is, not the Liverpool-one of course) but his first half at least was somewhat promising. He won't become a star-player nor the fans favourites I reckon but at least he can perhaps fill a role under Kenny.
Lucas made more forward runs in this particular game than the rest of the Season combined. And he looked better for it. He's almost enjoyed as many decent to good games this Season as poor ones. Improvement.

Raul. MOTM by a mile even though Torres once again showed why we'd be mad to sell him for whatever silly money beeing touted. Raul's surging runs, his dynamic style of play, his understanding with Torres and Kuyt, his workmanship and brilliant goal stood out. Can he keep up these good vibes we've got a real player on our hands here and I'd be amongst the first to send a cheerful thought to 'ol Roy in gratitude.

Kuyt simply looked a different player compared to most of this Season too. Apart from the Everton game he's been mostly abysmal but as one of Roy's aparent biggest critics no-wonder a change of manager and attitude on the pitch has upped his game immensely. Dare I say, welcome back?

Maxi, although slightly improved simply because we enjoyed more of the ball, can still be very frustrating to watch. If only he'd score a few goals now and then and get his confidece back up he'd be a good squad-player.

Overall a team-performance worthy of a straight 10. Not because of polished, flawless football, but simply because it was the first win under a new manager in another tricky, potential neck-breaking away-fixture we simply had to win. And we won, in style and without Gerrard.

Agger will enjoy his football with the way we play now. Carra will have to adjust and stop launching the balls past the midfielders once he returns.

I was as drunk as a skunk watching thus game.

Poulsen was still shite. Everyone else was great.

And hearts beat rangers.

And australia won.

And larne didn't get beat.

All I needed was Melbourne heart to do Melbourne victory and it was a clean sweep.

I'm just absolutely thrilled he's a Liverpool-player as he's simply one of the best strikers in the world. And he's really starting to show his best form again.

Form is temporary, class is permanent.
 
Poulsen had a decent first half, but the biggest WOW in that half was that it was actually as good as decent. The second half he gives the ball away 3 times in a row in very dangerous positions, which is more the Poulsen we are used at. He is a dreadful CM and we really need to strengthen ourselves in the middle of the field.
