Reina 6 - Couldn't be faulted really
Johnson 5 - looked good going forward but still can't defend for toffee and was given the run around by a 38 year old.
Skrtel 7 - our best player
Agger 6.5 - solid
Enrique 5 - got the run around by Valancia. Rafael as well on occasions. Still saved our ass on occasions and it has to be said, the protection he was supposed to have wasn't there.
Gerrard 3 - looks overweight, unfit and disinterested. Poor showing.
Spearing 3 - cost us a goal and looked overawed. Don't mind him as a squad player at best but he's not someone you can have faith in away at United.
Henderson 4 - slightly better than Gerrard and Spearing but that's not saying much. Too weak and timid.
Downing 0 - just fuck off back to Boro or Villa or anywhere.
Kuyt 4 - the effort was there as always but not his best game by any means. Poor touch on too many occasions.
Suarez 5 - bit subdued which was understandable. still scored and looked dangerous on occasions.

I was always quite vocal in my support for Luis, but there was always the element of doubt in my mind, obviously. But today proves he clearly strongly believes he's been wronged. If someone had ruined your reputation, wrongfully, you wouldn't shake their hand. Fair play to him.

Adam - 7 - Amazed he didn't start. I know you 'statisticians of the medicore' don't rate him but he's our most effective attack-minded midfielder by some distance (Gerrard aside). To see a midfield containing Spearing, Hendo, Kuyt and Downing playing before him must make him think what the fuck is going on. Instantly made a difference, even if it was a dead ball

I thought before the game seeing United's midfield, he will have a bit of freedom to play/hurt United if he was on. Unfortunately for us he was not.
I see the usual suspect have used this opportunity to lay into Spearing and Henderson. I'm under no illusion that Spearing is good enough for us. We need better if we want to be playing higher up the table, but he is not the only reason we lost that game. The entire midfield was quite rudderless.
But losing 2-1 at Old Trafford has happened to us before, and some of you are acting as if this is so unexpected of our team.
We now have no more tough away fixture. Let's just hope we do our best in our run in. There is no point in over-analyzing this game.

Gerard's off days are gathering pace though, this is part of the problem.
I thought he looked frustrated yesterday. You can tell when he has little fair in his teammates cos he takes far too many touches on his own, doesn't release it early enough, and drops too deep to pick up possession.
It's such a shame that in the twilight of his career when he should be being carried by his teammates, that he's surrounded by such expensive shite.

Yeah I think so to. He's been out for so long that this dip in form would happen. Thats always the case when you come back from a long term injury, the first games you're flying and then you have a dip in form and try to get your fitness levels back. He looked tired from the kick off yesterday.
