I miss these so just a quick run through ;
- 7 Reina - One superb save and steady as a rock all night, back to his best here even if a relatively quiet match (though considering they were over-run they still had quite a number of shots on target).
- 8 Johnson - excellent in attack and defence. I'm sure he'd make a great, scoring, wide mid. Very unlucky with the off-side, Very very close.
- 6 Agger - Not much to do, some small plusses, some small negatives. Really nothing to write home about, our quietest player on the pitch last night.
- 6.5 Skrtel (Carragher - 73' ) - rather more visible than Agger, wish he'd cut out the needless fouls (giving it up the arse) and keep the ones that are necessary to break up dangerous attacks. Powerful defender last night.
- 6 Wisdom - looks like he is regaining that lost confidence that saw him have a string of horrendous matches. Still some dubious decision making (shooting/passing) and lost his man once but much better all over the pitch.
- 9 Gerrard - Captain Fantastic was just that. A superb performance bar a couple of mis-placed passes and being pick-pocketed once. Amazing long passing (and shorter creative passing with accuracy and pace) cut Sunderland to shreds.
- 7 Henderson (Suso - 67' ) - Very good going forward, two utterly brilliant crosses were not taken advantage of. A few mis-placed passes and inaccurate shots blotted the copy book.
- 7.5 Downing - excellent for most of the night, lost his way for maybe 15 mins but then came back into it. Here is a man reinvigorated with confidence after being lost in the wilderness. If he continues in this vein I'd be very happy to keep him because this is what we paid for.
- 7.5 Lucas - did exactly what we want him to do, broke up their attacks through the middle and distributed the ball superbly. Really, really needs to cut out those stupid tackles when running back towards our own 18 yard box.
- 8 Sterling (Allen - 57' ) - Seemed to get better and better as the game progressed. Struck the fear of God into Sunderland's defence (frequently 2, even 3, on 1) and created space for others. Took his goal sublimely.
- 9.5 Suarez - Honestly what more could you ask. He could play for any team on the planet. I've no doubt that RM, Barca, Citeh & Chelsea will come calling. Masterclass.
- 6 Carragher - tidy and now our '#2 most appearances' (won't catch Calla) ! Well done mate !
- 7.5 Allen - a lovely cameo and he really shines when played in a more attacking role. Looks like he could and should score goals. Unlucky indeed with the off-side, Very close.
- 6 Suso - very tidy, nice accurate passing and looks a very capable deputy when asked to attack more centrally (he drifted inside quite a bit).
- 9 Rodgers - got just about everything right from his team selection to his tactics. I continue to have doubts about our defensive fragility though - United, Arsenal et all would have punished us tonight.
