Reina - 7
Carragher - 7
Agger - 7
Johnson - 7
Insua - 7
Mascherano - 8
Lucas - 6
Kuyt - 7
Aurelio - 6
Gerrard - 4
N'Gog - 5

Subs:
Benayoun - 7
Riera - 7

I think Ngog should have a higher rating considering the task. He basically had to lead the line by himself, with little support the whole game. Didn't whine or stop the whole game ...

I'd pick Masher as MOM as well. He's been a real general over the last few games (and has played some Alonso esque long passes).

Gerrard is clearly out of sorts and ideally would not be starting games right now. Kuyt could do with a spell on the sidelines as well, not that it'd ever happen.

How was Insua any worse than the other defenders?

Yeah I have to agree with that mate. He did alright for what was a pretty thankless task.

Yeah maybe i'm being a little harsh on N'gog. I just thought he was pretty shabby at holding the ball up + Quite woeful with it when he did manage to.

ngog is really turning into a bit of a decent player. He has someway to go yet but he is making some good strides

He was up against Distin & Yobo too, two big, strong, experienced defenders. He did well

N'Gog's hold up play in previous games has been better than I'd thought it would be, he's responded really well. And in this game, there wasn't a lot of support, so you had to be quite smart to find the right option.

But he wasn't, and he also fucked up a few counter attacks. It doesn't change my general opinion of him much, but today he was poor.

He's still abit obvious when he tries to take people on. If he can be a bit cleverer and more consistent with his first touch he could be ok. Well worth the price.

1st - technical difficulty. 2nd - artistic impression.

Reina - 6 + 6
Johnson - 7 + 7
Carra - 6.5 + 7
Agger - 6.5 + 7
Insua - 7 + 6
Masherano - 9 + 7.5
Lucas - 6.5 + 6.5
Aurelio - 7 + 6.5
Kuyt - 5 + 6.5 (extra point for the goal)
Gerrard - 4 + 5 (extra point for contribution to the goal)
N'Gog - 6 + 6

Riera - 7
Yossi - 6.5

he was not bad today but the other defenders were better than him.he needs another left back in front of him to perform which is not good enough to be first choice at liverpool .

This.

He also tends to panic whenever he's presented with a chance under pressure and has to act instinctively.

Agreed. I've been a vocal supporter since he joined but he was a little frustrating today even if playing up front for us today was a real thankless task. His hold up play was decent all things considered but there were just one too many poorly considered dribbles and bad decisions to be happy with his overall performance.

Kinda agree RE Aurelio in front of Insua deployment. Same thing against Man Utd during the home game wasn't it? On a sidenote, if fit, Riera ought to start at LW.

Kuyt did every bit as much defending as Aurelio today.

Keown on MOTD claimed Gerrard made a 'huge' impact!

Yes, it does make you wonder sometimes, doesn't it?
