Thought this would have already been posted:

Rafael Benitez today urged Ryan Babel and Albert Riera to do their talking on the pitch after both players expressed frustration over a lack of first team opportunities so far this season.

Babel has revealed he would be interested in a loan move to Ajax when the transfer window reopens in January, while Riera made only his first start of the campaign at Bolton last weekend.

Benitez insists both players will get chances to shine over the coming months - and that it will then be down to them to seize the opportunities which come their way.

"Albert and Ryan both want to play," said Benitez. "They play in the same position and so have to compete with each other, which is good for us.

"The message is very simple. On the pitch all of the players have to prove something.

"Ryan knows he cannot go now, so he has to impress. He is a good player and we know he has talent. It's important for us to talk with him and see how he progresses over these months.

"With the World Cup at the end of the year the majority of our players will want to impress and if they do well in each training session they will have more chances."

I can understand Babel's frustration stemming from last season where he was slightly unfairly treated, but Riera has no need to be kicking off. He's a guaranteed first teamer providing he doesn't fuck us around.

His ego may need reminding that he's a good, solid player, only sometimes great, and is quite lucky to be at a club of our stature.

Rafa seems to have it all in hand.

Bloody hell, a bit of old fashioned competition for places. No wonder they're both complaining.

You would like to think that they would both be trying to out-do each other. I wonder how they will respond.

Looking forward to seeing Riera for a few games. He was good for Spain over the summer and he brings a lot to our play.

Babel should still arrive back to receive a hefty fine for talking such crap. And someone should pee in his locker.

i like yossi's attitude

wasn't Yossi in the bad books last Christmas for whining about not getting enough games and talking about leaving?

Yossi mentioned multiple times to various media sources that he may need to consider his liverpool future if he doesnt get games..

i dont think he throws hissy fits and then fails to impress when given the opportunities though. He has been good because from the outside it looks like he has just got his head down and has vastly improved.. It would be interesting to see what he would be saying if things werent going well for him..

im so over Babel now its not funny..

Is there anyway he can be banned from having another career because it effects his day job?? i know a lot of companies need to be told if you have another job to ensure that legally there are no issues. Privacy and what not...

Surely his other career could put jeopardise the organisations good name?

He is getting paid for it and its clearly effecting the time he could spend training and working on his first touch.. because liverpool are paying him VAST sums of money per week surely we would have a say..

play well and we will let you make some rhymes.. play like poo and no rhyming for you...

The trouble with encouraging competition for a position, is that you actually need two players who belong in that position, who are roughly as effective as one another.

Riera will start more often than not due to him being less shit than Babel.

Considering the pair cost 20M combined, that's not the greatest of endorsements.
