Inter Milan are preparing an official approach for Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez. The Italian champions have already accepted that coach Jose Mourinho will quit the San Siro for Real Madrid after Saturday’s Champions League final, with their president Massimo Moratti admitting: “It will be a surprise now if he stays.†(Daily Mirror)

Good for him.

Why?

Rafa to Inter. Jose to RM.
Who to LFC?

Can't see the circle being completed.

If this ended up happening it would be losing the game of managerial musical chairs.

In a big fucking way.

I wouldn't mind Pellegrini if he is sacked at Real.

Has done a very good job this season, and was excellent for Villareal.

don't we already have him as our defense coach

😉

I doubt Rafa would go to Inter. They've been dominant for the past 5-6 seasons and also have a very old squad now. Anyone taking over that post won't last long.

Rafa's reputation on the continent is so much higher than here. The "fat Spanish Waiter" gets slated over here for being an average/shit manager. Playing too defensive, changing the team too much, too many over tactical formations based on opponents strengths, crap subs ETC.

Yet the Italian champions for the last 5 yrs, possible treble winners want him, and Madrid wanted him.

Strange game

Plus they wouldn't give him the amount of power a control freak like him wants.

I think this is plausible.

Anyone who thinks Mourniho is going anywhere other than Real Madrid is delusional.

Christ he's even opened his big trap and said as much.. it's Real or Inter.... nothing else. There is no way on earth he is coming to Liverpool. End of.

Benitez to Inter as his replacement I could see... and I'd lay money on Mascherano being his first signing if it happened.

In this sxenario that's where we end up with Hodgson or McLeish given that the other contenders, O'Neil & McLaren have been ruled out.

Actually... I had a dream last night that Benitez was sacked and Houlllier was appointed as Director of Football with some strange one-legged man as Head Coach....

.. and I hadn't even been drinking!!!!

I can now shop a story around that says that a source tells me we are going to be run by a pirate. I'm in favour of this managerial change, I think it would inspire fear, plus it's a natural fit for a port city.

Hmmm... the latest news reported that Rafa will stay for 4 years (unless he is sacked) as he has no offers from other clubs.

Not sure to be sad, mad or indifferent.

Rafa is a proud man and wants the opportunity to turn it around. Maybe now that he feels he has something to prove we will see a more adventureous side to him. I won't hold my breath though!
