Call me old-fashioned , but I don't think this was the most subtle attempt.

With a little more foresight you should have come on ingratiating yourself on the site for a few weeks at least, saying nice things and making the right noises. Sussing out who the people to toady up to for such favours might be, shmoozing them a bit and laughing at their jokes and agreeing 100% with their footballing opinions.................then raising the question with a bit of a sob story.

I don't think it would have worked then mind, and sadly I am pretty sure this attempt is doomed
