According to Cadena SER, Athletico Madrid made attempts to see if Pulisic was available.
They were rebuffed saying an agreement has already been reached by an English club.

It's us or Chelsea imo.

Nobody heard a word about Fabinho before he was at melwood and his lovely missus was instagramming about it.
 
Id rather sign a striker who can challenge/replace Firmino as requires. I cant see how we will win a title relying on a main striker who is on course for single figures this year.

He has four in the league so far, at this stage last year he had 5 and ended up with 15. So I'd put money on him scoring more than 10 again. Given all the rest of the things he brings to the team, that'd be good enough.

Having said that, I'd definitely love to see us get someone to challenge him in the team

Reminds me of when Owen basically pushed Fowler out of the team ... He wasn't all that either ... You get the point though - sometimes a player comes in who's just 'better' - either talent wise or for the team or the system - and a good player gets pushed to the side.
 
I don't think he fancies us. He's a United fan, and has never reacted with any enthusiasm when he's been linked to us.

In any case, is he as good as he's hyped up to be? His productivity over the last 3 years is pretty mediocre given his talent. Dortmund fans seem to think Sancho is the bigger talent anyway.

Being able to bring shaqiri off the bench , gives us possibilities of changing things up without a significant drop in ability should any one of the front three become injured.

Sturridge has looked fine this season when playing and who knows whether that goal stoked a fire in origi or not.

It'd be nice to bring In another forward in January if possible though purely because of the current league standings any reinforcements we could get given the strength of city across the squad and pitch

I'd bring in another striker to replace both Sturridge and Origi, but I'd do it thinking of next season. The most ideal player would be another wing forward type, someone who can play on the wing and up front.

Sturridge has made some valuable contributions this season, but he doesn't have the intensity or consistent sharpness of any of Firmino, Mane, Salah, and Shaqiri. He'll be gone in the summer. Don't think there's a future for either Origi or Solanke here either.


Going forward, it's likely to be Brewster + a new signing (most likely in the summer). Perhaps Wilson will also come into play, though I can't be certain.

Will be interesting who that new signing is - my thinking is that Klopp will go for a versatile forward, who can play both no. 9 and no. 10.

How close is Brewster to full training I wonder? It should be soon, shouldn't it? Anybody know?

Pulisic 4 goals 6 assists in 29 games
Sancho 1 goal 7 assists in 7 games

18-19
Pulisic 2 goals 2 assists in 8 games
Sancho 6 goals 8 assists in 12 games

Pulisic's stats dont look all that great over the last 2yrs, whereas Sancho fair play to him has been doing very well, cue City strolling back in with a billion quid and zero fucks about ffp.

He's been out so long he's gonna need a lot of time to get back, same goes for Ox. They are both going to need a whole lot of match fitness

Yes, but Chamberlain was always out for the season, pretty much. I'm sure it was said that Brewster would be back in full training late in 2018. Well, it is late in 2018. I don't expect him to play over Christmas, but perhaps by the last third of the season.

This. Pulisic will become a Liverpool player when grass grows red and the sea turns to yoghurt. I sincerely hope we're not wasting time and effort trying to persuade him to sign.

Possibly, but I think you also know that this is a kid with almost no first team experience. This season is not his time to prove himself.
