Yesterday, my 6 year old daughter took part in the 'Race for Life' in Sefton park in Liverpool. A women-only 5 kilometre run raising money for cancer charities.
It was wet and miserable, and she had to get out of bed early. We had done some training, the furthest we had ran was about 3k which involved a couple of breaks. She managed to run the whole way round, only stopping once while her Mum tied her shoelaces.
34 minutes was her time for the 5k, and she was still full of beans at the end while Mrs Nessie rolled around on the floor wheezing and sweating. She has nearly raised £300 and had already committed to doing it again next year.
I felt so proud as she crossed the finishing line, there was a little tear or two.........
