Now that article 50 has been triggered, season 19/20 will be the first full post Brexit Premier League
I guess if there are restrictions on work visas it could immediately effect the amount of young foreign kids from EU countries coming into the academies. This could well have a positive effect on the chances of British kids "making it" though it will have a huge negative effect on those that traditionally would have went over from the Republic of Ireland. (Unless the historical freedom of movement between the UK and Ireland is somehow enshrined into the Brexit agreement)
Is it likely that the FA could impose limits on none British players for domestic competitions.
There seems to have been very little discussion generally on how Brexit could change the Premier League.
Is that because there are likely to be few changes or is there anything else that could have implications for the Premier League in the future

I would be inclined to forge the documents, once you get caught you can fight it out in court for a decade or so, by the time you get found guilty and fined the player will already be retired.

I started thinking about this yesterday. It throws up lots of interesting questions.

What happens the Bosman Rule ?

European competition ?

I'm not saying England won't be UEFA eligible or kicked out of UEFA but there are bound to be unintended consquences

What like there are for teams from Switzerland, Israel, Turkey, Russia et al. The UK geographically is still part of Europe. There will be no consequences for European competitions when it comes to Brexit. Money talks.

Do they not have some exceptional reason which allows them to play, and that is part of the justification for them having one champions league place? It is not inconceivable that uefa will cull our places to 3 or maybe even 2 like it used to be.

Pep Guardiola suggests Premier League teams must adapt to Brexit issue

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes clubs could be restricted in terms of signings post-Brexit

March 31 2017 5:46 PM0

Pep Guardiola expects post-Brexit employment regulations to impact on English football clubs.
The United Kingdom's departure from the European Union could mean non-British players having to apply for work permits to play in the Premier League.
Under the freedom of movement principle, players from EU countries are not presently subject to immigration regulations.
It is possible that from 2019, when the UK is scheduled to leave the EU, that players may have to satisfy authorities they are regular internationals for their countries to earn work permits. This is currently the case for players from outside the EU.
Such a scenario could drastically affect Premier League clubs, who have come to rely heavily on foreign - and particularly EU - players in recent years.
It has been suggested separate arrangements could be made for highly-skilled workers, among which footballers could be bracketed but all of this is subject to negotiation over the next two years and nothing is clear.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is unsure whether such a scenario would be workable.
Guardiola, himself a Spanish national, said: "What happens in two years - it's a new situation and you have to adapt.
"The work and the rules have to be the same for everybody.
"Why would football be exceptional to lawyers or architects who are not able to work? But football players yes? Why?

We are leaving the EU not Europe.

So I can't see any effect on our UEFA membership. However there are some interesting points raised in relation to recruitment from European clubs.

I was never suggesting that somehow English clubs would not be allowed into the Champions or Europa league.
I do think however that there will be changes post Brexit to the Premiership and other FA leagues.
I would imagine that it will be more difficult to bring in EU players and may become more trouble than it is worth for some teams, especially in terms of youth players.
I wonder would it be possible and or desirable for the FA to impose foreign player quotas on domestic competitions as have existed in the past.
I also suspect that there will be other unforeseen changes to come as well but I simply cannot imagine that there will be absolutely no changes whatsoever.
