Bournemouth ended with a shite draw, so we need to get back to winning ways tomorrow.
Going to Stoke is never easy and it will obviously be tough this time around aswell.
Walters is back from injury, he somehow has 6 goals against us, and will probably start. Hughes will probably start Crouch aswell to dominate us on set pieces and long balls.

Anyhoo, our team picks itself given our obvious injury trouble. Case can be made for a start for Gruijc, Trent and Sturridge mind.

Ming
Clyne Matip Lovren Milner

Can Lucas Wijnaldum

Firmino Origi Coutinho

This can go either way but if we score first we'll have a good chance of winning given that Stoke seem to have gone into their post season form already. That will obviously change against us though.
Lets hope we dont concede some stupid goals tomorrow aswell, but that will be hard to avoid.

Team selection for this one is difficult given our injury problems and lack of genuine quality in the squad. It seems ridiculous that with Henderson out, we're still having to give fucking Lucas a game, and even though Firmino should be dropped, there doesn't seem a viable alternative, given Sturridge is broken and never fully fit.

We haven't won away for ages, so it would be great to get three points against Stoke, but we don't seem likely to with our only decent goalscorer injured, and both Lallana and Henderson missing.

The team will probably have to be:

Mignolet

Clyne----Matip-----Lovren-----Milner

Wijnaldum-----Lucas-------Can

Firmino--------Origi--------Coutinho

Which is fucking horrible.

As long as that useless cunt Klavan is out doing the bins, rather than on the pitch, the defence should be in better shape, although I worry about the aerial threat given Matip isn't very good in the air. Midfield picks itself, sadly.

I'd drop Coutinho back into midfield instead of Lucas, and maybe try Ojo or TTA on one of the flanks, which would at least give us some pace, which Firmino hasn't got.

But Klopp won't do that.

In which case I'd have TAA on the right and firmino on the left and origi down the middle of he doesn't make it

Klopp: "Adam Lallana is a lot better but he is not an option yet. We are going to need a few more days before we can get him back."

"Hendo is also in a good way but we don't yet know when he can start training again either. Sturridge is training & we will see."

"Phil wasn't a Melwood yesterday but he is in conversation with the doctor and he feels much better."

"He is still ill but we will give him all the time. He will be really close."

"On Sadio, we are pretty sure he will need surgery."

"We are not sure when his surgery will be, but it is clear, his season is over."

3-1 Stoke. Crouch Adam Allen the scorers. Firmino with a late "consolation" for us. Glen Johnson to have his best game in 7 years. Klopp to blame it all on the away end for not getting behind the players.

I meant about mental preparation

You and binomial have destroyed any nascent hope I may have had already

Sounds like a lovely afternoon at SCM after that....

Anyone else hear that Coutinho is definitely it of today's game?

Nothing from the usual suspects yet, probably to early. I guess we would have known by now if he didnt travel.

It's Luke's birthday party (he's was nine yesterday, by some weird miraculous fast forwarding of time I think, how the fuck is he nine already?!) today, so I'll have the match on the big screen before the national starts, & have the joy of having at least nine blues in the house with me.

I've decided to invest in a crate of beer to join the first crate of beer in the fridge, & consuming that in rapid fashion (as soon as I've finished prepping the house & food) will be my mental preparation!

Just my lad said he was confirmed as definitely out as I was heading out to work earlier. Maybe he is reading the wrong sources.
Fingers crossed

Nah we will win this. They're on a shocking run and won't get away parking a bus at home as the crowd won't stand for it. Studge will score today

Ballsy. I like it, and would probably work, but can't see Klopp going for that. Studge has only had a few training sessions so will probably come on as a sub.

I reckon Grujic will make an appearance off the bench. I hope so. He looked impressive in preseason and certainly knows where the goal is. Remember that header? It was something else.

If Coutinho is out, I'd go:

Firmino
Sturridge Origi

4-3-1-2

I don't think Sturridge could start, he's been out for so long.

That said, when he's been 'fit' recently, he hasn't really looked capable of running anyway, so perhaps it doesn't make much difference

It's really quite sad that I've totally given up on Sturridge ever being the player he was at his peak again. I might be proven wrong and he can get back to the lightning fast genius striker he was at his very best, but it's not looking great.

Imagine what the Sturridge of three seasons ago would do in this team.. 25 goals easily.
