Note funky kick off time.

Great chance to end this run on an absolute high. Newcastle have had a few games lately too with limited rotation so might have some fatigue.

I’d rotate the front line plus Robbo/Tsimi.

Alisson

Trent (due to no alternative)
Konate
Virgil
Tsimikas

Gravy
Macca
Szob

Salah
Jota
Gakpo

Could see Slot doing the quad midfielder again with Jones but feels unnecessary.

Trent will have fun with Gordon & Hall.

I'm tempted to say just put Jones at rb, or quansah.

Give Trent the 2nd half.

If Bradley and gomez are out for some time, best not to risk him.

What could be fun is the Arsenal kick off time. They kick off at 19:30.

They could be coming out for their second half seeing us 2-0 up. Really mess with their heads.

I think Slobby rests this one out.

Ali
Trent
Konate
Virgil
Tsimikas
Gravy
Jones
Mac
Salah
Jota
Gakpo

Yep, reckon Jones starts after the early sub today. I hope we haven't knackered the midfield out, but Newcastle were also stretched today. Neither team will be firing in all cylinders.

I'd probably start Quansah and bring Trent on in the second half to ping some balls against tired legs.

Gakpo and Jota should come in if they're able.

Quansah--Konate--VVD--Tsimi

Salah---------Jota----------Gakpo

Looking forward to this (and to Arsenal losing at Forest).

I reckon it’ll be…

Alli

Quansah (Trent on at 60) Ibou VVD Robbo

Grav Macca. Jones

Salah Jota Gakpo (if fit, or Nunez if not)

Szoboszlai said he was tired after the game. I think he'll drop out for this one. A return of the 4-3-3

Trent was holding his knee too can see him being rested

Allison

Quansah
Konate
Virgil
Tsimi

Gravenberch
Mac Allister
Jones

Gakpo
Jota
Salah

One more match before a longish break.

Hope the players are not too tired. Could be a crash after the euphoria.

🤣

Damn. I've just realised I won't be able to watch Wednesday night's game - the first one I'll have missed this season 😢 I may be all right to watch PSG and Saints online and I'll deffo be back for the LC final.

I'm off to the Labrang Monastery to photograph Monlam, the Tibetan New Year festival in Xiahe, Gansu province (Google it - looks amazing). I can't wait but it's going to be cold shooting all day for a week at down to -11C at 3,000m! Then onto the desert and finally the Rainbow Mountains at Zhangye.

The route is : Shanghai - Chengdu - Xiahe (5-7 nights) - Lanzhou (1 night) - Badain Jaran Desert (2-3 nights) - Zhangye (2-3 nights) - Qining (1 night) (Qinghai province) - Shanghai

I'll see how I can post a few pics whilst on the road. So excited !

In the meantime whilst some will rejoice I hope it doesn't jinx our lead !

Can't believe this is still only on page 1.

Anyway i'm revising my midfield to have Szob rested and Jones at AM with Jota up front.

Quansah at RB (or Endo) is a good shout against Gordon and Isak who drifts left more than he drifts right. Gordon might be rotated as he looked buggered at the end of their game, so could be Barnes starting there.

It would be ideal if they rotated for this with some out of form players like Barnes, Wilson, Almiron, Willock etc. Lewis Hall is a threat, but I wonder how brave he'll be with Salah keeping himself forward.

I’m wondering how much of an eye they will have on their FA Cup tie at the weekend. They have a tough fixture against Brighton.

On that note:

Can you name the 13 players who played for both teams during the Prem era:
(No Karius)

I got 10
It doesn’t like my ad blocker.

Wijnaldum
Rush
Owen
Hamann
Milner
Barnes
Didi
The good Darwin Nunez
Enrique

I’m struggling now.

The one kind thing I'll say about Newcastle is I'm glad Ashley fucked off and they're back to being an established PL club.

But watching large sections of supposedly 'proper' supporters turn into puppets for the Saudi regime and suddenly staunch advocates against PSR/FFP, has been pretty embarrassing. It's to be expected, football fans are self-serving and overly tribal, but it has been especially cringe in lots of things I've read.

Not all of them like.

Sadly I am not convinced that it would be much or any different if it was Liverpool in their shoes
