FC Copenhagen are set to offer Christian Poulsen an escape from Liverpool.

The midfielder opened the scoring for the Reds in today's 4-3 win over Guangdong, as part of their pre-season tour of Asia, but will still be deemed surplus to requirements at Anfield.

After enjoying two years with Copenhagen before joining Sevilla in 2002, Poulsen could be in line for a return to the Danish capital with an offer of £2.5million currently being mooted.

The 31-year-old, who was signed by Roy Hodgson last summer, would become the second departure from the red half of Merseyside during the close season following Paul Konchesky's £1.5million move to Championship outfit Leicester City this morning.

Milan Jovanovic, another player that arrived during Hodgson's ill-fated spell as Kop boss, is also expected to make way with a return to Belgium looking a distinct possibility.

Striker David Ngog, who also scored in Guangdong, continues to attract interest from a handful of Premier League clubs after his proposed move to Sunderland fell through.

It wont be 2,5 mill. FCK wont spend that kind money on him, but they have been interested for a while.

Perhaps it would be justified by shirt sales and other merchandise. I assume he is still a hero 'back home'?

Like I've said before Roy should be made to take him to WBA along with kuntcheski

Pah! Don't be silly, even Hodgson isn't daft enough to sign him again.
Plus, we're not lucky enough.

God I hate Poulsen's footballing ability.

I know what it stands for, but I still like seeing that version of their name. ;D

For fucks sake.

Another one we are paying too much I assume then.

5 games since Kenny took over (substituted in all of them) and now God knows how many centre mids ahead of him. He can't possibly think that he has much of a future at the club in playing terms

Well who can blame him, he is on a decent wedge , I only thought pride might kick in eventually

regards

You'd think it would for some of these players but it doesn't ever seem to does it?

Poulsen was playing regularly for Juventus and playing for his country in the World Cup just over a year ago. Its a long way to fall just for money. He wouldn't do that badly if he went to another club either surely

his is on his last big contract so why would he rip that up for less money?
[/quote]

Fair enough I suppose yes but the other side of that is that he will be 33 when his contract expires with us (a 3 year contract to a 30 year old - fucking hell) so he'd also be missing out on time when he could be playing for another side, which must be more fun for him than sitting on our bench.

By the time he leaves he probably wouldn't get the offers he would get now.

He's been told by the Danish national manager that he have to find a new club, or risk Not being involved in the EC next summer. That is our glimmer of hope.

Poulsen expects Liverpool stay
Liverpool midfielder Christian Poulsen has heard nothing to suggest he will find himself at a new club come the end of the month.

Poulsen was reported to be seen as surplus to requirements by Kenny Dalglish, but the Dane remains at Anfield for the timebeing and does not expect that to change.

"I have been really happy and I want to play, that's my goal for the future," he said.

"I am happy there with my family, it's a good club and they treat me really well.

"I hope I can change my situation so I can play more.

"I haven't heard anything from Liverpool, I am trying to be fit for the new season.

"So I think they want me at the club and I am happy to be there and unless they tell me something different, I am a Liverpool player for the coming season."

Poulsen is currently with the Denmark squad preparing to face Scotland but does not see Wednesday's game at Hampden Park as a competition between him and Charlie Adam.

He said: "It is an important game to show Liverpool that I am fit and ready to play for them.

"There are a lot of players there but it's up to me to show that I am capable of playing for Liverpool.

"Hopefully I can show on Wednesday that I am a good player and they can use me.

"Charlie is a really good player and he has a bright future in front of him.

"But I don't see it as a test between me and him.

"I see it as a good test for Denmark because we have three Euro qualifiers left and it is a really important for us."

is this just about money or for some insane reason does he really love being with us despite never playing ?

I don't really get it , he's into the last few yrs of his career , he was a 'starter' for most of that and he's going to lose his place with denmark and the captaincy (surely?) .So why on earth is he not pushing for a move and first team football somewhere ?

Learn to read between the lines then you fucking cunt.

Apperantly on about 50k - 60k a week.

Think him and Degen needs to be shipped a la Jovanovic. No fee, find new club and fuck off.
