This is gonna be short & sweet...

- Job done, difficult ground, shite atmosphere, potential banana skin etc... We don't half contrive to make things difficult for ourselves sometimes. Another sloppy set-piece goal, and let's not kid ourselves, they could have had more from them. Why didn't Kyrgiakos start? I presume Rafa wanted to get more games into the Agger-Skrtel partnership, but an ugly away tie in Europe against a team whose only route to goal is through set-pieces would have been tailor made for the big Greek I'd have thought. If Skrtel's injured properly, he comes back in for the game against Big Sam's Blackburn, which should suit him.

- Carra at right-back against shit sides I'm afraid to say is horrible. Scream, receive, passit back to where it came from times infinity. It breaks my heart watching that. No coincidence that our first goal came as a result of him getting to the byline for the first time in the game. Johnson would have made a huge difference going forward. As we've pointed out though, he'll make it more difficult to keep up our decent clean sheet record though. Gonna be interesting to see how Rafa approaches this one.

- Decent performances from Babel, Insua, Skrtel, Lucas, Gerrard, and the excellent Mascherano. N'Gog might as well not have played, cos he clearly didn't fancy it out there. Smart play from Lucas for the thrid goal; recognising Levy had withdran his defensive midfielder two minutes prior and replaced him with a striker, Lucas advanced into the defensive midfield void, a couple of neat passes later and it's 3.

- All in all, a decent result, with more difficult games to come. The fucking tempo has to be raised though, that was diabolically slow at times Tonight. I've said it a million times; you don't necessarily need quick players, you need quick ball movement. Any side can defend against a team who are just shifting the ball sideways with zero penetration or imagination. We need to raise the tempo, take more risks, and knock the ball about at a higher rate than what we're currently doing. I know the pitch was shite, but for 45 minutes we made that more difficult than it could and should have been.

- Anything else?

It's good to see someone put some effort into penning something more than a one liner.

First 20 mins was dull as dishwater. Our defence was woeful. Babel took his goal really well. I know it was a 'big' win but I'm not too confident we can carry that on in the Prem. We still look quite toothless.

Lucas looked more assured than he has on previous occasions.

Maybe it was cos he'd realised we were playing against dogshit i dunno, but he looked more composed on the ball than against Citeh.

Yeah he played quite well, nothing spectacular. His ability to win tackles and possession without going to ground is excellent, and a rare commodity.

N'Gog cannot play up front on his own. Fact.
Thank God Torres is returning.
Reina is awesome.

"Smart play from Lucas for the thrid goal; recognising Levy had withdran his defensive midfielder two minutes prior and replaced him with a striker, Lucas advanced into the defensive midfield void"

Yeah, he's a fucking genius.

It was amazing how he noticed a player leaving the pitch and being replaced with a player who operates in a different position.

Only Lucas would have had the brains to then cunningly identify which area of the pitch may have some more space in it, due to the recent substitution of the player who previously occupied it.

Why do you fucking bother with this bilge?

Lucas did have a good game though Brendan.

I think more people want to praise lucas but keep it to themselves for fear of bren ripping into them 😉

Yossi was good and there is a clear improvement to the team with him in it. He's not a squadie anymore.

The only player I remember seeing last night even attempting to run the defence. And what happens when he does, we score goals

He needs to start every game from now till the end of the season,

He was OK at best. Maybe he's found his level?

If we play Havant & Waterlooville again he might even score a goal.

Carra was again one of our best players. Horrible my arse but yeah coming from one of the Lucas lovers...

Maybe its just me but a fullback's first job is to defend. Carra is our best defender by miles whether at CB or RB.
He had a poor start of the season like many players but quickly found his normal level. He's been our most consistent player since january.
Reina best player of the season. Easy.
The ones who pick Lucas for this award are just clueless.

Skrtel looked good once again untill he made that pretty rash challenge, kind of injuring himself.

Aggers performance was vastly improved compared to the Citeh game.

We are still extremely vulnerable on setpieces.

Insua really needs to learn how to defend corners and set-pieces a like - and do so fast.

Gerrard got on the scoresheet tonight and I've got a sneaky suspicion he'll feel extremely confident going in to the Blackburn game. Onwards and upwards.

Lucas was decent. Masher scored a Gerrard-like goal and was excellent. Benayoun gives us opportunities and Babel scored an excellent goal.

Good little win which will do wonders for our confidence I'm sure.
