I don't care who you play in the variable slots, but play Torres up top and Gerrard/Mascher in CM.

We've got "options" left and right (ie nobody owns these slots) but nobody plays better in CM together than Gerrard and Mascher and obviously Torres speaks for himself.

Let's at least get right the positions we can.

And if Kuyt plays, let him play up top too. He's clearly much more dangerous there than on the right.

I think he'll start Kuyt on the right to be honest! Just for the tracking back aspect to help Johnson deal with Di Maria!!

Edit: Oooops! Just realised Ryans already stated this in the Team v Benfica thread!
 
I'll be very surprised if we don't see the CM partnership of Mascherano & Lucas starting in Lisbon.
I'll be very disappointed too as this is the worst partnership and has been stalling our game this season, killing any hope of creativity.

Please Rafa, do NOT play Mascherano & Lucas in the same team!
 
Robinhood, it's an away game. We MUST defend. Rafa will go for Lucas and Mascher. It's not even up for debate.

- How Benayoun should have been playing in the hole - "it's the only way, everyone knows it!"

- "Kuyt should be played up front alongside Torres" - "It's where he's best!"

- And now... "Gerrard in CM!"

So that's 4 in midfield, 1 in the hole, and 2 up front. Leaving aside the tactical and formational monster faux-pas that this conjures up... You do realise that that leaves us with only 3 defenders don't you Dreamy?

So 3-4-1-2 then.

From the first games at Spurs I said without Alonso our side should be.

And this incorporates both Yossi in the hole and Gerrard in the middle.

As for Kuyt I said if he makes the team it should be up front (But I wouldn't pick him at all) and not on the right wing.

Ryan your "tactics" have been proved to be laughably wrong in the last few weeks maybe you should take a rest eh?

Or do we need to bring up KHL's thread again?
