Larry Lloyd league championship 2 european cups and 2 league cups with forest

That was bizarre. I still wish I knew how the hell he managed that.
In terms of success meaning trophies you would have to say Mcmanaman is an obvious choice. For me I would say that letting players leave before they reach there full Liverpool potential is a more relevant topic (I mean we are Liverpool Fc for fucks sake)
How about a different slant on this thread. Players you wished stayed longer?
I nominate - Dean Saunders and Ray Houghten - Both ended up at Villa who have a habit of taking reds i think.
I have a sneaky regret about Crouch leaving too but i might be alone on this one. 😱

Riise.
Beardsley.
Cisse.
Pongolle.

Beardsley for sure but I'm a bit perplexed by your other choices mate. Riise was well and truly past his sell by date. Pongolle is a good call but I honestly think he wasnt good enough in the end. And Cisse had his heart in the right place but injuries took away his one redeming feature. Pace!
Anyway whatever man. Owen now plays for the Scum. Crazy days! 😱

[/quote]Its not so much the transfers in isolation C.S, its the cause and effect.
Riise out - Dossena in = Net loss.
Pongolle out - Bellamy in leaving us short to purchase Alves = Net loss.
Cisse out - Crouch in leaving us short for Simao = Net loss.
My thinking at the time (and still to this day) is that Rafa spends too much time and effort on incremental improvements. We should have just kept the bench options we had and blown our wad on the big signings that would have really made the difference. Even now 200m down the line are our back up options better than what we had? Babel and N'gog or Cisse and Pongolle. I know what i'd pick.
