Alright lads, seeing as we're skint. A few free transfers could do us the world of good, if we get in the right type of players.

There are a couple of players there that would improve both the first team and the squad. I think Joe Cole, Adriano, Chamakh, Johnson and Petrov would be decent pick ups. No, Joe Cole would be fantastic.
 
There's always plenty of bargains available, and I'd like us to be in contact plenty on of those; Adam Johnson, Metzelder, Saha and Adriano in particular.

I think Cole will stay at Chelsea - in fact I thought he had already signed a new deal?

I thought we should have made a move for Petrov about 3 years back. He has had injuries since but at the time he was a cracking left winger with pace. Sadly he is probably only a shadow of the player he once was.


Oh and Adriano aswel please.
 
Gamst Pedersen was very promising once, what's happened to him?

Joe Cole's the most obvious choice of the bunch. Chamakh another I reckon, especially considering his young age and rep.

I wouldn't mind Adriano at all either. Is he still the chubby one?

In other words, can he fil the gap Dossena leaves?

Senderos is only 24?? Seems like he's been around for years!

Not too many of those I wouldn't take for free

Im sure Chelsea will offer him a contract just incase he wants to join a rival team. Won't they?

I'd offer Fabio a deal too. He is a trusty left back for Home Games and provides good cover if needed.
I take it we'll be in the market for a left back in the summer.

He wasn't too bad last season but I'm not sure he is worth hanging onto for long and I don't think he wants a short term deal.
Its generally accepted that players will pick up more injuries after they get past 30, so imagine what Aurelio will be like!

I would hope we will be after a left back, but you have to worry who that will be. For all Benitez's bad signings his worst performance has been in buying left backs!
 
I can't see a huge number of clubs looking to offer him a four year contract because of his injury problems. It's now clear to us why Valancia were satisfied to see him off their wage bill, and if were in a better position we would no doubt be saying the same. As it stands, though, he's the best LB at the club and therefore is worth a new 2 year deal on similar terms.
 
All in all, Aurelio has been a decent freebie. He's padded out the squad and for all the cons, he's still a decent enough footballer.

Oh, and Adriano!!!

Moving to Real has turned out to be an awful decision by Metzelder. He's barely played, although injuries haven't helped.

True, did he go there on a free or at least have his contract running down? He played a bit at the start but then he got injured. Canavaro came and left and now they have Garay, Pepe etc to cover so he doesn't have much chance of a look it.

Is he still in the German side? He used play along side Mertesacker (sp?) but haven't watched zee Germans in years.
