Hello all,
Thanks for the support you have given to this each week. This season has been one to forget. 56 games of less than enjoyable football. I can honestly count the number of times I really enjoyed a Liverpool performance or piece of good news on one hand.
We all have our thoughts on why and we should leave the debates for another thread.
Anyway, the news:

Not a big surprise I guess, but I will agree with most people that Pepe Reina should have received the award.
It isn't easy to factor in that a Goalkeeper can be a consistent performer throughout a season but not get recognition each week.
The fact that he has finished 2nd is amazing considering. Next year I will try to recognise a way to make it fairer for a Keeper. One way is to award a bonus point for a clean sheet. If he get 20 clean sheets, then he is guaranteed an "extra" 20 points. I would be interested in your thoughts on this.
Lucas has been criticised by many. At the end of the day he has finished 3rd. A constant in the side until the last few matches, he hasn't let us down. I'm sure people will still feel that he isn't LFC class and that he would be better moving on. I would probably agree although I wish him well.
Torres 4th. He missed a lot of games and it goes to show how good he is. I hope rumours of his transfer away this summer are false.
Gerrard and Carragher both had poor seasons by their standards. It is probably Jamie's last full season and I believe that he will be replaced or moved on soon.
Aquilani and Maxi enjoyed slow starts to their career, but we did see some glimpses of good things to come.
Soto Kyrgiakos was a great option as a stop-gap and he may be valuable as a role model in the future.
Lastly it is easy to forget what Mascher does for our team. I see the look of determination on his face each week and it is obvious that he is a winner. His desire to win tackles and to inspire those around him is awe inspiring. He is currently my favourie player and I would love him to stay and win things with us.
[size=14pt]I congratulate Javier Mascherano.
