Playa d'Aro ?

I know we have at least one Spanish resident and I am guessing lots of others have travelled to Spain extensively. I was wondering if anyone has any experience/knowledge of Playa d'Aro, a beach resort on the Costa Bravo about fifty miles north of Barcelona.
I am thinking of taking a family holiday there during the summer and would like to know what we are letting ourselves in for.
