If you were Liverpool’s DOF and tasked with bringing one more midfielder in this transfer window, which of the players we’ve been linked with would you choose?

I know it’s a difficult question - I’m not sure if I trust myself to know the answer at this point; this whole process left me thoroughly confused and kind of desensitized. I’ll trust the club to make the right choice and get behind the team even if they choose to get no one. So leave behind the past agendas and impossibly complex tactical permutations and go with your gut - which of these players would you rather see at Liverpool?

There's valid reasons to not choose any of them, but I would opt for Thuram.

It's more a gut feeling, but he just looks to have everything to be able to be potentially effective in both the six and the eight role;

He's a good age with plenty of experience under his belt,

I'd hope he would have the same drive to replicate his dad's achievements in the game and rise to the very top. At the very least he knows what is required to reach that elite tier.

He provides height, strength and boundless athletism - all of which is required.

His work as a six may require more work than would be ideal, but with Endo here and Bajectic returning, it eases some of that pressure, and he can grow alongside Mac and Dom into a very balanced looking midfield.

We spent the whole summer chasing Thuram so I am totally perplexed why we haven't moved in when (1) our no. 1 target has fallen through (2) we have the money (3) he's young, affordable, versatile and Klopp presumably likes him. I can only surmise that we have dug out some hidden reports of him engaging in some criminal activity. Otherwise, the whole process is baffling.

If we were going back in time then would have been Bellingham, all action and all position conquering CM and a leader. He was the one, £89m? What a bargain compared to prices for a whole load of average service men like Caicedo.

If now as it is then Thuram, have only seen limited bits but he seemed a Klopp player who can be moulded to younger Fabinho. Still curious why after having started our summer spending with Mac, why we suddenly didn’t progress on Thuram or Kone soon as Euros started.

Wanted Thuram since March, was pleased we were actively linked with him earlier in the transfer window, and naturally disappointed a move didn't materialize.

Thuram would seem the best option.

Although, I have to say, we need to be looking at a home grown player - Jacob Ramsey, for example.

Kalvin Phillips has been linked again - not ideal, but there are worse options.

I wanted a specialist 6, with elite level potential, but from what it seems the club has decided to go with Endo + Bajcetic for that position.

If they're looking to recruit a generalist, I want one with athleticism because we're crying out for that, and someone who can pull his weight defensively.

At the moment, it's looking like Gravenberch is the most likely to happen, because the player wants to leave, and he won't be that expensive, but the biggest weakness with Gravenberch is that he's not very athletic.

I was in favour of Thuram over any other target this summer, however now I've seen Mac & Szobo, I am delighted at the idea of these two being two starting CMs for us. The gap to fill is DM and of that list for me its Doucoure or Palinha - i'd opt for Doucoure. Outside of DM we have plenty of young CMs/AMs who have a high ceiling in Jones, Badger & Elliot. None are currently PL DM quality, but perhaps one of them might be trained in to one.

There’s been reports that the deal isn’t straightforward re agent payments etc …

My biggest worry with him is that he's a moany cunt. For that reason alone, I'd prefer anyone else from the list apart from Palhinha who just doesn't make sense to me

As for first choice, it's tough because I don't know shit about football outside the Prem. But getting talent straight from Brazil sounds cool so I'm going with Andre

Honestly, there's no obvious option among them.

Cheikh Doucoure - not worth what they're asking
Andre Trindade - exciting player, but will he adapt?
Ryan Gravenberch - big risk
Khephren Thuram - kinda looks like he's it.
Manu Konè - nope
Florentino Luis - too expensive
Joao Palhinha - too old

Either Thuram or Trindade for me.

I want either Thuram (mostly because I've spent all summer convincing myself that he is it)
Failing that I would want Andre. Because it's high time we spent on a sexy South American baller ourselves, instead of waiting for his price to increase 10x after a season with Brighton or Benfica

Pleasantly surprised by the Thuram vibes in here. Him now if the idea is no longer a specialised 6 but Andre in January would also be welcome.

The window has ended on us eponymously with the signing of Endo. We aren’t getting anyone else, the cheque book is closed

Synonymous, eponymous.. Thanks Brendan.
Must admit, have never seen that word before, with that spelling, even as a synonym for eponymous, but I did wonder if it was being used in that sense.

Even then, if that is a real word, correctly spelt, I'm not sure how saying, "The window has ended on us epinomously", or "We're epinomous throughout the world" actually make much sense, as in relating to or being a person for whom a thing is named.

However you choose to spell it, surely it has to relate to someone or something, such as saying, "There is a scene in The Life Of Brian in which the eponymous hero wakes up to find his home surrounded by disciples"? As an adjective it has to relate or apply to someone after whom it is named.

And to add to the Echo and the BM example

So far it’s:
1. Khephren
2. Andre 3000
distant 3 & 4 - Doucoure and Gravenberch

Personally I am in Andre camp, but Khephren is close. Don’t think an older player like Palhinha makes sense after the Endo purchase and unsure this team has time for a project like Gravenberch or Baby Redondo.

FFS eponymous means "of the same name". So, for example, Echo and the Bunnymen's eponymous fifth album was called "Echo and the Bunnymen".

There is no place for eponymous or any derivation of it when talking about the transfer window ... unless we sign a player called Transfer Window.
Thank you TB. I'm glad someone's got their head on straight.
