Today announced his retirement at end of season.

Legendary player, top profession who was respected by all in the sport.

Good player. But not close to legend in my book. Ill give him Credit for achievements.
Not a legend? 500 appearances for Bayern, 21 titles, World Cup winner, captain of his team, not to mention all the other achievements and him being one of the best ever full backs. You've got to be taking the piss

He's one of the best full backs you could hope to see.

What exactly do you see as a weakness?

I don't see any particular weakness, and he is better than good. I agree on that. A modern Version of Andreas Brehme. But as he never played for us, and probably never played against us either I dont spend much time on him, and Ill not miss him either. But credit to his achievements!!

I can understand that the Bayern fans see him as a legend. The same as United fans see Neville (either of them) as a legend. He is too distant for me, but I respect that you have another view. I doubt that the Bayern forums even knew that Carra hung up his boots, and ok he didn't win the world cup, but to us he is a legend.

He was better than a "good player" insignificance. He's as good a full-back as I've ever seen - up there with anyone you could throw out.

Yeah. He is better than good. Poor wording from me. I think it is impressive that he actually ran the midfield for Guardiola. But as I don't follow german football too closely I don't have a Close relation to him. But all kind of respect for the achievements!!

I'm with @Insignificance ... Legend is a complementary term that shoudl only be applied to our own, or people so distant (in time or geography) that they can be safely afforded the term without it coming back to haunt us (like Pele)

As counter examples, I have heard some folks refer to maureen or even Slur Alex as "legends", which make me wretch violently

In other news, Djibril Cisse has retired with immediate effect 'to concentrate on his new career as a DJ'.

This thread is just a massive insult to him

Arguably the best full back in decades, a fantastic central midfielder, an excellent captain and deserving world cup winner

Cunts can't even spell his name right

It's a special case we're dealing with here with Binomial.
You have to take what he posts with a pinch of salt.
He's dangerously thick.
Genocide type dangerous.

..imagine someone on a Bayern forum create a thread like this..

Steven Gerhard hangs up his boots

Burn it, I'd say..

I seem to recall Guardiola using him in defensive midfield a few times, because of how intelligent he was, like he was the final part of the masterpiece. Alonso returned from injury, shoved him out the way in disdain, and made Guardiola into his bitch.

I'm very liberal and lefty, but even I would encourage debates about forced sterilisation when it comes to him
