Has Gary Cahill been that good? Luiz I get - he's really been steady (well, until the last two games) but still ...

Unfortunately, I'd go for an Aldeirweld or Vertongen

Has Alderwield been that good this season? Last season he was awesome, tough act to follow maybe. Before his injury, Van Dijk would have walked in.

Has to be Aldeirweld and considering the team is mainly based on Chelsea & Spurs' defences then it should be 3 at the back and Azpilicueta in with a shout too.

Sanchez over Mane debatable.

Lloris has been the best keeper in the league so I'm guessing they had to shoehorn in a United player somewhere.

You can't really question the front 6, even if their inversion pisses me off, but what the actual fook got that back 5 in? I can see Luiz, and begrudgingly Walker but no Alonso, Alderweirald or Heaton? Heaton is statistically the best GK in the league this year, and with a much dodgier line in front of him than De Gea or Courtois.

No wonder most footballers are crap pundits if they can't recognise talent properly.

Can't really argue about the inclusion of any of those players, they've all been very good.

The only quibble I would have is the exclusion of Sanchez, and also the fact that Luiz and Cahill probably wouldn't be in the team if Chelsea had actually played with only 2 CBs for most of the season.

Ibrahimovic has also been excellent, but it's hard to argue with Kane or Lukaku.

I gusss that shows why we aren't in the mix for the title,

For all the praise our attacking play has got, you can't argue with the exclusion of our entire squad bar Mane

Played against Aaron Mooy a couple of times. Incredible how good a player he's become in the last 2-3 years.

And by 'played' - clearly I mean he stroked the ball around effortlessly while I bust my ring getting nowhere hear him.

Is this guy finally admitting that the problem is with our defensive players?

What are the stats that show that ?

The one that matters most; goals conceded per shots faced. TBF I've not checked in a while so could be different but at the time of the PFA vote it was something like 0.23/4 for Heaton vs 0.29/30 for De Gea, not sure on Lloris who probably had a fair shout with Spurs' recent form.

Where do you think he'll end up next season? Sold by City for a profit?

Why DO the PFA vote mid-season for end of season awards? Does Gordon Taylor insist on counting all the votes personally?

Maybe it shows we are missing the attacking players I said we should have signed in Jan

Jesus Dreamie - we have one attacker in the team of the season and no defenders.

So we're good at attacking - but not good at defending.

I don't know how to tell you, again, that it's not our forward line that's the problem.

Why is this so hard for people to comprehend?

The deadline for voting is the end of March, which is why the team is announced in April.

That's more than mid-season.

I'm not sure about the importance of that stat at all.

Depends if Huddersfield go up doesn't it?

Guardiola rates him apparently, but I doubt he's good enough to be playing for City. He'll be playing in the Premier League for someone though.

It's still a bit baffling though isn't it?

I mean the most important and decisive games takes place in April and May, it's where everything is decided and the going gets tough, yet any contribution made in that period of time can't affect how the POTY and TOTY awards pan out?

I think it's questionable to say the least and makes it all rather irrelevant and uninteresting.

Or perhaps they think it's quite a busy time of the season, what with all the important games, trophies, relegation and all that, so it's probably best to do all the voting and awards before it all goes totally mental?

I think this is ok. You know by end of March who has been consistent and played well over the season and you will not only reward those with a strong finish to the season.

It is not like those coverage over here where they ask people to vote for MoM after 7 mins played. They even had a vote for goal of the game in the handball games running through the whole match and those games normally ends with 50+ goals
