WTF has happened to him?

He was diabolical tonight (thankfully).
He's been ruined by injuries all season - in fact for almost two seasons.

He was terrible. Just didn’t look up for it. Looked like he’d just gotten out of bed after a hard night of drinking.

I think the lesson here is don't buy Wenger's cast offs.

Henry hasn't been up to much either.

I don't yet know a player who is immune to age. Viera and Makhalele are not the youngest anymore. I've watched Mascherano against them both and he made them look pretty darn ordinary. He is the new benchmark in the defensive midfielder position. We have a gem on our hands. Thank GOD!

I dunno ... his touch and ability to push forward is still there to see - It's just he isn't as 'able' physically yet (2 years of injuries will do that)

He looked shocking when he came on. Poor control, handball in the six yard box, poor passing and just looked damn right awful. He's finished!

It doesn't make a difference to me one way or the other. Doesn't matter who we are up against, Mascherano is a MONSTER!

Correct. And lets pray that he's going to be injury free for our next visit to San Zero.

Was he? I know he should have had a penalty against him, but I thought he looked pretty impressive, he started to carry them forward late in the game. He still had the old touches and quality on the ball, he set them on attacks a couple of times. He does look a couple of yards slower though.

He's certainly not the player he once was, but let's not forget he's just come back from injury and has not played that much this season. What was he going to do last night in a team playing like that and down to 10 men anyway?

I think the moment most Premiership fans stood up and went "wow, he's finished" was when Arsenal played Juve. He looked woeful and came off in the second half panting like an overweight dog after Fabregas and co. had run rings around him for the majority of the match.

I thought that too ... I'd take a fit 32 year old Vieira over most other DMs

Glad it wasn't just me then 😉

Glock, I have no doubts about Mascherano. Our midget is as hard as nails. He gets hacked, goes down and simply gets up to dust himself off and continue. After last nights battle against his fellow Argies which he clearly won, he'll be up for it again. I love watching him play.

Well he's the new Sissoko isn't he?

Seriously though, he is just getting on a bit and suffered with injuries. He's still a great player. I wouldn't write him off just yet

To be fair, before last night, he'd only played like full match and has been either suspended or injured for 3/4 of the season.

Zindane who? ;D

Bet that bald headed old man was watching us beat Inter. Rafa should offer him a coaching role with us in some capacity. Wouldn't that be something?

The Telegraph are suggesting we're lining him up in January and will be competing with Spurs.

Just passing it on.

Why would you bring up a 2 year thread for that shit bit of news?

RVN, Vieira. Who next? Tempting Roy Keane back into playing? Andy Cole?
Someone's explained the McAllister effect to Benitez and he's scrambling round looking for one.

Sweet idea. He worked pretty closely with Gerrard for the Predator X advert.. and perhaps he could help with our little Frenchie's development too.

So I hear we might be in for Viera?
