Just a quick question for the locals.

I'm thinking of flying over for the Palace game and want to return home the Sat night. I've a 30th bday party to go to in Dublin that night. There is 20.45pm flight from JLA and a 21.30pm from Manc. Will I make either of those flight with the kick off being 17.30pm? I could leave just before the final whistle to beat the crowd but I don't want to miss a sentimental farewell to Gerrard. (Gerrard being substituted before final whistle would solve this).

Stevie will be walking round the pitch afterwards & saying goodbye to the fans, you wouldn't want to miss that.

As such you'll be cutting it fine for the jla flight, but I'd say the manc flight is doable (dependent on getting a taxi & traffic obv).

That said I have zero experience of the m62 on a Saturday evening.

Rodgers subbed Carra on his final appearance after 85 mins, so that's the sort of time that Gerrard will probably leave the pitch, but as Foxy says, the post-match procession will be nice to stay to see, Probably hanging around a bit will leave you with a better chance to make the later flight because the Main Standers tend to pile out just before or on FT to set off back to all places south, so the delay might be a blessing in disguise travel-wise.

You would need to be checked through forty minutes before departure so both are cutting it really fine.
Have you checked trains going to Manchester airport.
They might be the most likely transport to run on schedule after the game

Train is out.

Only way you could guarantee it is if you had a car waiting for you just outside of the match traffic areas to bomb it straight to the airport, I doubt a taxi could do it.

I'd offer but we've got a family party that night, sorry dude.

I'd have a taxi booked like we usually do but they can run late. Remember we had a fine sweat waiting on it the last time Jon?

Fuck, I dunno what to do. I'd really hate to miss an ole sentimental goodbye to Gerrard. I do expect him to be subbed though as macca outlined.

Yep, that's what I was thinking when I said a taxi wouldn't be an option imo, you just can't guarantee they'll be there on time.

Thanks @the count also in that case.

I'll stop hijacking your thread now.

Be careful, if anyone hands you a packet of southern Tayto they probably want to take a photo with you holding it and then they'll say you love them more than the northern Tayto.
