Apperantly signed a 2 year extension to his contract today. Thats at least good news.

Thought it was going to be more depressing news.

This is good news. Looking forward to him getting a lot of playing time this year in the shitty cups at least.

Nice. I hope we play him more centrally though. I'm worried we'll fit him in wherever in the "3". He is shite on either wing. In the middle he could be quite exciting.

Yeah, very.

I like him a lot, and I'm encouraged by Hodgson's more regular use of Pacheco.

I was always amazed Benitez could go out and a sign a play like Garcia, and then not give Pacheco a proper chance.

And according to Andy Hunter in the Guardian, Ayala will go to Hull on loan. Thats a good move for him aswell.

Lucas on the bench

Insua trying to be offloaded

Players going out on good loan deals

Pacheco getting a chance.

Okay, so Aquilani has gone and I don't agree with that, but there is some common sense happening at this club too.

Good news about Ayala, at least we'll get to monitor him a bit more if he stays in England.

Lucas has been on the bench for one game, Arsenal.

And the best player in that game has left. So I have a horrible feeling the cunt is not going to be 'on the bench' much

Unless Konchesky plays CM, cos that's all we're getting

He is still ridiculously lightweight (and despite Dantes blabbering about how many free kicks he will get) which worries me.

He's no Jay Spearing.

Didn't Shelvy look ok in the pre-season?

And ok SHOULD be enough to get a chance at any position on the pitch that Lucas could fill.

Masher was off anyway and I'm more than confident we'll buy another CM.

Rafa used to bring on that non entity El Zhar time and again when plan A wasn't working. How he got in front of Pacheco I'll never know.

Good news about Patches. Hope he has a good season and breaks through properly.

I'd like to see more of Shelvey. I was encouraged by what I saw in pre-season.

There isn't much difference. In fact according to the official site they are both the same hight and Spearing is heavier.

Bloody great news ! I love this little lad and think he's going to be a huge player for us in years to come. This is going to be his breakthrough season and with Joe Cole here too, he need look no further for a mentor.

I'd rather have Shelvey on the pitch than Lucas any day of the week. The positives with Shelvey are that he always looks to go forward (as does Pacheco) and is faster than he looks (and that's faster than Lucas), he is also a better & speedier passer. Already beyond Lucas' level.

Kelly - great LB / RB cover. Great to see a youth player making it.

We seem to be doing very well out of our youth players at long last.

I acually feel that Lucas' sudden 'homesickness' is Hodgson teliing him he's shit.

I hope so anyway.
