Our player of the season?

pepe by a fucking mile. no other player has come close to him this season, well maybe torres (when he's been fit)

1. Reina
2. Masha
3. Torres

Not taking the piss, but isn't Lucas up there on the Internet Fan's vote?

He was in the last thread I read on this subject.

Just checked Morse's player of the season table.
Current standings:

1. Mascherano..................10 first..........8 second.......6 third........80 points
2. Lucas.............................4 first...........7 second.......5 third.........46 points
3. Reina.............................6 first...........2 second........6 third.........42 points

Despite our votes I somehow feel that Reina has been forgotten. I can't see how anyone else can win it. Wouldn't mind having him as captain.

The reason Pepe isn't higher in the voting is simply that keepers don't figure in games as often as outfield players, not when you're as high as we are in the league anyway.

That said, even his record would probably have looked shabbier than it is if Masher hadn't returned to form with a bang in the second half of the season (yesterday notwithstanding, but that wasn't a typical game all round). People rightly shudder at the thought of what our season would have looked like had Pepe not been there. For my money the same applies to Masher.

Reina's the only player who hasn't suffered a dip in form. He's been consistently brilliant.

Disagree. Lucas hasnt shown a dip in form either. he has been a fucking disgrace from day 1.

Reina for me. Torres would have been a contender but alas missed too many matches via injury.

Incredible that that "fucking disgrace" is gonna be at the World Cup with the best team in the Competition's history too eh?

Wear it.

Luckily, as soon as Benitez fucks off, Lucarse's Liverpool career will be all but dead

Hooray!

Unfortunately for you (and for us) I don't think that's true Bren.

Is that certain?

I would still think someone of your intelligence wouldn't base players' talent based on their appearance in int'l squads in Euros or WCs.

What, that he's going to the WC? I'd be stunned if he didn't.

And you know I wouldn't do the latter. If Dunga picks him though, and he plays - then some people need to reassess their opinion. Actually, fuck that, I don't care if they do.

He's a good footballer, and I'm not arsed in the slightest if people can't see that.

He's improved a lot. I don't think he's nearly good enough to be played as much as he has this year - but what can you do. I think he's a good midfielder but the way you go about him, I feel we're talking here about Xabi.

he's not as bad as people make out but the difference between him and alonso is stark and a big reason we have failed to control far too many games. I love gerrard in the foward position but needs must, rafa should have identified the hole in midfield and moved quickly to fill the gap.

I think a Masch-Gerrard 'middle' instead of Lucas-Masch with Yossi/Aquilani (whoever is healthy) in front of them would have resulted in us having a better season points wise I think.

We would have been 4th quite comfortably

Reina

Mascherano
Torres

the rest

This.

And Lucas is a decent enough squad member as back-up to Masherano. One of the issues I have with him though is his lack of versatility - it seems he can play no-where else other than DM as even when played ahead of Masher he stills seems far too defensive in nature. This, considering how he was played in Brazil, must surely be down to Rafa.

and lucas is pretty gash although to be fair to him not as gash as he was, he's less spectacularly gash now.
