Roy Hodgson was seen at RÃ¥sunda stadium during the Sweden - Ireland game.

When asked what he was doing there, his answer was short:
- Scouting players.

Martin Dahlin, the player's agent refused to comment.

Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet are reporting that the potential target is Swedish fullback Behrang Safari, an Iranian born Swedish International.
Hodgson spotted him during the last years Europa League campaign with Fulham. They played Basel during the group phase.

He's an attacking fullback in the Glenn Johnson mould but I think he's better defensively. Safari has been impressive for Sweden.

Some facts:

Full name: Behrang Safari
Date of birth: February 9, 1985 (age 25)
Place of birth: Tehran, Iran
Height: 1.84 m
Playing position: Left back, Left winger
International stats: 16 games, 0 goals.
Club stats (Basel): 66 games, 1 goal.

I'm not sure about him though, he's not exactly premiership proven.
Might be a better option than Figueroa though, considering the Blackpool result 😉

We're really strapped for cash.

Another possible target he was scouting is Ola Toivonen, a striker currently playing for PSV.
I'm more excited about Toivonen to be honest. He has scored 24 goals in 49 games for PSV. He's 24 years old, big, strong and pacy. Not sure if he can play alone upfront though.

I don't think he wa looking at Doyle.

Even if McCarthy was being hyperbolic in his valuation of him at 50 million quid, I still think it is fair to say we can't afford him.

I like Roy's hands on scouting approach because he needs to be spot on with the players he brings in now to strengthen the team.

His old school approach to doing things is a throwback to yesteryear and a very refreshing approach.

Yes.

Martin Dahlin, the agent of Basel and Sweden star Behrang Safari, has confirmed that his client has attracted interest from Premier League clubs Liverpool, Everton and Fulham.

Dahlin scored four goals for Sweden at the 1994 World Cup in USA and later joined current Reds boss Roy Hodgson at Blackburn Rovers after a brief stint at Italian giants Roma.

Speaking exclusively to Sport.co.uk, Dahlin enthused about Safari’s potential, describing him as a versatile left-sided player who, at the age of 25, already has international and Champions League experience.

He said: “Behrang Safari, has been doing very well and was recently linked with Liverpool, Fulham and Everton.

“He is a 25 year-old left-back and left-winger who has been playing in the Champions League with Basel and has already got 17 caps for Sweden.

“I have high hopes for him.â€

He wasnt scouting players. He was there to wlecome plaudits for how he changed the swedish football when applying his methods to Örebro and Halmstad in 1974. They still talk about that in Sweden dont they??
