Next 6 games in the league

Pompey (A)

Wolves (H)

If we can get a win tomorrow I really think it could set a platform for us to go on a decent run with the games coming up. We always sem to do well at Goodison, plus they are playing shit and have loads of injuries at the moment so can see us getting 3 points there. Tough one then away to B'burn, but if we have everyone back there's no reason why we can't beat them. Arsenal will be missing a few players when we meet them (RvP, GC, KG). It's always a tough game, but if we can take some momentum into it we can definitely beat them. Then the 3 games after that we should be winning no matter what form we're in.

We could easily take 16 from our next 18 points, with a bit of luck 18 from 18. Things won't be looking so doom and gloom if we can. A good start needed tomorrow!

It looks like 14 points to me at best, where will that leave us , having played the four relegation contenders that everyone else above us should spank too?

I admire your optimism!!!

Confidence has to start from somewhere. Winning games brings about this. If we can't do well in these games it will bring about an improvement in our confidence.

Bazza, you have to base something even as subjective optimism on some sort of logical foundation.

I don't think anyone in that lot will score a lot of goals against our currently suspect defence, with the exception of Arsenal, there..... that is optimistic.

The flip side is, without Torres, we are not going to score many goals, and therefore the best we can hope for is draws. I think 14 points was being very optimistic.

"If we can't do well in these games it will bring about an improvement in our confidence."

My question was/is and if we can't where does it leave us? Will everyone then accept that we are deeper in the mire than some would like to think?

These crap teams are going to smell our fear and fragility, not afford us the usual respect and go for it, it's going to be hard mate

The points tally in the second half of our season thus far (post Torres injury), would actually see us level on points third from bottom.

We need to pull a fucking big rabbit out of the hat.

Sorry that should say "If we can do well in these games..."

My optimism is coming from the fact that it's likely Torres will be back and fit for these games. With himself and Stevie back playing together we are a much different prospect and capable of winning any match, expecially the next 6.

But yeh if we can't do well in these games, then there will be a lot of serious questons asked. I can't see it happening though. Hopefully this is the period we get our season back on track.

I really think the disappointment of getting booted into the Europa League will give the lads a much needed kick up the hole.
I think we are capable of taking maximum points from those games. We really need to see a reaction from the players this weekend.

No offence, Bazza, but we've seen these words every week for the last two months with very little signs of improvement.

Yeh but this is the first time Stevie and Torres will get to play together since we played Chelsea away on the 17th of October. That's the big difference going into these games.

Sauce?
I don't think we'll be seeing Torres for another couple games.

I read he will be having a late fitness test so obviously he's not a certainty for tomorrow. But the fact he's ahaving a fitness test tells me he's close and if not playing tomorrow, he should be back playing soon. He's had more than his 3 weeks rest that the specialist in Valencia recommended.

3 points out of 3 so far. 2 wins in a row. There's still a lot of cracks to be filled, mostly set piece defending, but hopefully this is the start of a bit of momentum.

It was great to get 3 points but all today did was fill me with more fear.

Something tells me we are going to fucking hammer Arsenal in a couple of weeks.

Absolutely no insight, logic, or football acumen, just to be 100% clear. (Very Ryan-esque of me to admit, I know.)

But I just feel it in me water.

I've stopped posting when I think we will lose as people lose the plot over it, but I thought we'd lose today.

We'll beat Wolves but Villa are going to spank us rotten.
