He was awesome in the air.

I thought he started off superbly and then went through a really rocky spell after about 20 mins. He recovered in the second half though.

We deffo need Agger back asap tho.

He was good in the air, which you'd expect from someone who was bought "because he's good in the air".

He looked slow as fuck on the deck, and turned like milk, which you'd expect from a 2M signing who was bought "because he's good in the air".

One of the lads I play footie with was telling he looked brilliant for Rangers in first year and never bothered after that.

Apparently his passing is very good so lets hope we see that once he settles in. Away to Bolton isn't exactly the easiet task for your debut.

No, it isn't, so I suppose he did do ok.

But he's nt a longterm solution, and we have two excellent young centre-backs at the club, so hopefully this big Greek is 4th choice for all of his time here.

Thought he was decent enough.
Could understnd the hoofing though, probably a bit nervous.

I thought we actually used him more than Carra to bring the ball out of defence and he was OK in that regard until he got caught out once, probably not used to the speed of the PL. After that although almost totally dominant in the air (in either penalty box - he'll score some goals) he was a little nervy. He did really well considering new league, not match fit and has only known his team mates for 5 days !

He does turn like a barge though.

the sooner agger is a regular in the side the better, not a slight on the new CB but he was bought as cover.

I am starting to loose faith in ever see him fit until he joins the liverpool legends......

apparantly he is doing light training. this international break has actually come at a good time.

I he gets used against anyone better than Bolton, or more pertinently, anyone with more pace than Bolton, we'll struggle. A lot.

What worries me is that Rafa has purposefully chosen a CB with aerial presence, & it's clear we desperately lack that with our first choice defence, so we may see this more often.

I do wonder if Skrtel and Agger will ever be our defensive partnership, basically because neither of them are commanding in the air. Neither can dominate in their own penalty area or that of our opponents in set-pieces. I do wonder if we do need that kind of player.

That's a big assumption to make, Hyypia had the same problems but read the game exceptionally well, yet people still banged out about how he'd get caught out against a team with pace.

Occasionally he did, but for the most part he used his intelligence and defended brilliantly.

I'm not saying this Greek lad is the same standard, but assuming he'll get raped because he's slow is a bit presumptuous, I thought that by and large he had an excellent debut.

The only time he really got caught was dallying on the ball, which is just a case of him getting used to not having as much time as he probably would have liked to control and get rid.
