We had 11 shots on target and 4 off target today. Sounds decent enough right ? Not at all. 11 of those shots were from 20 yards out or more (Gerrard 5-1 and Kuyt 4-0) and whenever we looked dangerous and the ball was delivered into the right area (around the penalty spot) we were either ahead of the ball or nowhere in sight.
Kuyt and N'Gog are just not good enough. I do not blame N'Gog too much for missing that opportunity - it did take a deflection - but whenever he gets the ball you just know that he is either going to lose possession or pass it away, add in the fact that the guy hardly ever manufactures a shot on goal never mind on target (well it IS difficult when you spend most of your time 30 to 40 yds out on the wing) and I fail to see the point of him. Kuyt was almost as bad today and has been off form for most of the season, and that is the best we can muster with Torres out. Neither are anywhere near good enough.
I know there were more than a few of us pulling what little hair we have left out when the transfer season ended and we hadn't covered this glaringly obvious weakness. Chickens always come home to roost.
