That wasn't the first post about cancer on this site and it won't be the last. People deal with things differently. Some don't see the funny side, others have to to try and take the sting out of the pain.

Having been touched more personally than most by cancer I have to say that Fabio's remark raised a smile and in the context of what is generally acceptable on these boards I didn't think it stood out in any way as being particularly offensive or distateful.

I've never highly rated him, at least not amongst the top set of managers - but he's likable enough and I usually wish him well wherever he is. Sunderland have spent poorly for a long period of time, ever since Keane was there, so their current league position is unsurprising.

100% agree, if people find it offensive then there would be endless posts and threads in the GC forum that would need locking.
I found it funny too and I've lost more than my fair share of people to cancer.

It was really a direct response to Wizardary who had said that he had recently seen a family member die from cancer and that he found the remarks distasteful. There seemed to me to be an inherent suggestion that all people effected by cancer would be more upset by the remark and I wanted to refute the suggestion. Perhaps I should have directly quoted what he said.

I, like everyone else on here, can only really speak on behalf of myself and as I said before, in the context of what is normally deemed acceptable on these boards to me Fabios's comment didn't seem in any way remarkable.
