My oh my ... Seeing his name always reminds me of that list.

Benfica forward Freddy Adu has revealed he is considering a move to Hull City.

Freddy Adu has struggled to make an impact in Portugal

Adu, 20, is currently on loan at Portuguese side Belenenses having spent time last season at Monaco, but the USA international has struggled for playing time and goals in Europe so far and looks set to move on to a new club in January.

Writing on his Twitter account, Adu has said that he is currently deciding between a move to Hull or Greek side Aris Thessalonica, adding: "I have some tough decisions to make. I have a pretty good idea about what I want to do because it's about playing time and my development."

Adu will be keen to secure regular first-team football to bolster his hopes of playing in South Africa.

I think it's the 'footy' sporting talent ... They did it recently with Jozy & Donovan, both have struggled to do anything in a proper league.

They're desperatly trying to make soccer big over there, too, and making 'stars' isn't a bad way to go about it.
 
If they really want their top footballers to develop, they should let them go to a good European academy so that they get a good footballing education at an early age - which they don't get in the US - and avoid the hype machine.
 
They seem to do quite well in producing Goalkeepers, which is in keeping with their predilection for sports that involve using your hands

Reyna wasn't bad, neither was Wynalda

And DeMirtt was good lsat year for Watford
 
There's a right back named Cherundolo who's been quite tidy for Hannover 96 over the past decade.

McBride was decent at Fulham.

Also, aside from Adu (whose hype was Nike-driven), the US doesn't hype soccer players. Largely because very few people give a shit.
 
So thus far the hall of fame for US footballers consists of Clint Dempsey, Claudio Reyna, Roy Wegerle, Eric Wynalda, John Harkes and someone who plays for Watford.

Out of them I think only John Harkes had any reasonable success

I may as well throw in Alexei Lalas, Cobi Jones, Brian McBride and DeMarcus Beesley in for good measure. They're all shit too.

That's a bit unfair. You asked if there were any US players who were any good, not Hall of Fame players. All the players cited to you are pretty good footballers.
 
USA have a decent side... underestimate them at your own risk.

Any side who has beaten Spain in the past 2 years, and was leading Brazil 2-0 in the Confeds Cup final demands respect.

Also USA jokes bullshit aside, they got a decent side and should do well at the World Cup.

Michael Bradley, Tim Howard, Oguchi Onyewu, Carlos Bocanegra, Frankie Hejduk, Clint Dempsey, Brian Ching, Landon Donovan, and Jozy Altidore are decent players.

The one thing I like about USA is they try and play football ... they don't just pump it long .... they are very quick on the counter.

This is true but give how few kids actually make it through the ranks and can earn a living off professional sports, if you were a parent, would you send your child 3,000-5,000 miles away for training at a young age? I can't say I would.
 
Yes I did ask if any USA players are any good.
The ones listed include some who aren't that bad but presumably that is therefore the best they have had.
Yes players like Dempsey are not awful but its hardly an ideal scenario when these are the star players!

I doubt the US will do that well at the World Cup to be honest.
