Just had a horrible flashback of the time Momo played in an advanced role....

Thanks George

All the midfielder would have to do is win the ball and pass it sideways to the attacking fullbacks.

The wingers and strikers could cover behind, just in case

I'm fully behind this, but only on the condition that slide tackles are kept to a minimum.

Just to clarify, my suggestion is entirely serious.

I know but people can't resist having a dig.
in answer to your question I think the holding midfielder should always play in front of the CB but its the job to push up and therefore push the holding midfielder closer to the attacking midfielders. mash and momo did a decent job pressing deep in the opposition half but I prefer the holding midfielder to perform his role like alonso, i.e. dictating play from a deep position.
