God acknowledged he was a Liverpool fan ...
Sheesh ... what a talent -

I think waste is harsh.
He scored 150+ goals ...
Perhaps, if only he had actually hit his potential ... because he had the talent to get close to Rushie.
His finishing... wow.
His finishing was almost supernatural at times.
Still, he scored 14 goals in the PL in 1998 never scored that many goals again. Barely made it to 10 after that and he was only 23 at the time.
That's why I think it's a waste of talent.
It's sad because, like many others born in the 80s, I idolized him.

Much like Owen, we burnt him out too quickly.

Never the same after the 3rd(?) ankle injury. He seemed to recover and then get instantly injured again. Also Ged did him no favours with his rotation system. Often dropping after he showed any signs of getting some form.

Was at the game, a League Cup tie at Fulham, which came just days after a dispiriting defeat in the derby, with McManaman and Grobelaar coming to blows on the pitch. Fowler was like a breath of fresh air and scored the third goal in a 3-1 win. If memory serves he got a hatful in the second leg.

5 me thinks.

I remember when we signed him under rafa. Came on as a late substitute against Birmingham i think. I was a steward that day, and the atmosphere was incredible. I've never seen a single player get the crowd that frenzied

When people thought he scored that game, the noise was sensational

Yeah, there's no doubt he's a case of unfulfiled talent. Shame.

Some of his goals are amazing to watch back, even now,

i remember watching that away game against man u
that first goal, a shot while in step into the top near corner, the speed of it
it is one of my favourite goals
I hear the commentary of bitter andy gray there, claiming it is on the goalkeeper and he should have saved it - just fuck off. shows what he knows

then he outdid neville and lobbed schmeichel

Darwin won't go to his next internationals, he will be locked in the boot room having to watch videos of fowler finishing, clockwork orange style
if that doesn't help, take him behind the kop and shot him
