....Kenny Dalglish signs Scotland international David Speedie from Coventry City

What was he thinking ?? ??

6 goals in 12 games is not bad.

A year later in Blackburn 23 goals in 36 games not to shabby either.

If it wasn't for Kenny leaving Liverpool in 91, Speedie would have stayed.
He only left to rejoin Dalglish in Blackburn.

2 on his debut vs united?

Exactly.

To be fair when we signed him. I thought wtf!!

yes he banged the goals in but it seemed a short term fix, rather than for the long term.

We're about to do the same thing now with Anelka. I wouldn't mind a 28 year old Anelka, who would?
But 32 come on, he'll give us a year maybe two then £10 Million down the drain.
If I had to pick between a Sturridge and Anelka, Sturridge would be my choice.

Agreed.

Yeah, it's not exactly rocket science. So why the f*** is the club entertaining the idea of signing Anelka instead of Sturridge?
Honestly I'd just rather have the money.

Not sure long term where its going but an influence on thinking might be that Anelka has been a good player for about 12 seasons and Sturridge has never been good and might never be.

Just a thought.

Thats why Anelka on loan for 6 months with Chelsea paying the wages is the best deal.

Sturridge reminds me of Carton Cole and Zamora. It took them a long time to become what he are today. Of course they're not exactly world class. But I really think we can improve Sturridge.

You're making it worse for yourself.

Sturridge has 1 goal in 26 games. FUCK HIM. HE'S SHITE.
[/quote]

How many games has he started? I mean come on he's only 21.
I think there's some potential there.

There isn't. Even the Chelsea fans hate him. He's a show off who at the age of 20 decided that he would warrant a 60k a week wage, despite not even getting in to the City first team.

IF he wasn't English and home grown, Chelsea would never have signed him.

Sturridge record in EPL (note: he's score far more in the FA Cup)

2008/9 3(13) 4-3
Chelski:
2009/10 2(11) 1-0
2010/11 0(13) 0-0

Total of 7 starts, 38 sub providing 6 goals and 4 assists
