Oh No Flanno!

His surname might not quite be flannel, but his knee seems about as useful as one. Horrible blow for him.

He's trying to keep Sturridge honest in the race to the golden walking stick. Still think Sturridge will walk it.

Exasperating. Last September they found fluid on one of his knees, ummed and aahd for a bit and then got him operated on. Then earlier this month he found some more fluid on the knee.

Must be devastating for him ... On the cusp of being a first team regular.

I wonder if he'll ever come close to that again ... I hope so for his sake.

Wasn't there a news article only last week which claimed he didn't need a new operation?

Actually you're completely right:

Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan has reportedly been given the all clear to continue his comeback from injury, easing fears that he needed surgery yet again due to a setback.

The Reds defender only returned to training in March after missing the entire season due to a knee injury that required surgery before the start of the 2014/15 campaign.

Flanagan is hoping to make his return to first-team action before the end of the current campaign, and even played 30 minutes in the Liverpool All-Star Charity match earlier in the season.

He was also penciled in to take part in a behind closed door friendly match, but did not after a scan revealed fluid in his knee prompting surgery fears.

According the Liverpool Echo, the club feared the worst and sent the young defender to world-renowned surgeon Andy Williams in London for a diagnosis.

Much to the relief of the Merseyside club and Flanagan, the surgeon said that surgery will not be required and has given the defender the all clear to push on with his comeback.

The 22-year-old defender is keen to make his comeback before the end of the season, and this could see him being involved with the Liverpool U21's to regain match fitness ahead of his first-team return.

Flanagan is on the last few months of his contract and will become a free agent at the end of this campaign, but Brendan Rodgers has already confirmed that he will be offered a new deal in the summer, as he remains an integral part of Liverpool's future.

"He is a big part of the future here. He did remarkably well last year and showed he is player who can play for many years at this level," Rodgerssaid.

Our fullback situation is terrible

We've got past it, clueless, injured, young loaner and shite. You can guess who each one is.

Cheers GK. I was beginning to think I'd imagined that. Wonder what happened to change their minds.

I actually read your post wrong. I started at "clueless". I never even noticed "past it". I would've gotten 5/5.

Yea I got that impression when you said moreno first. That lad needs a brain transplant

Saw Flanagan out a couple of months ago, pissed as a fart and barely able to stand up.

Shame for the lad, but I don't think he's anything special anyway. Interesting to see what happens now with his contract up.

I think Flanno was going to be an excellent FB for us. Easily our strongest FB defensively, good passer and a fine young composed player. I'm gutted, as I felt when Jones went the same way.

I don't really agree. He had shit loads of quick players dribble past him down the flank, and it's something that always disturbed me.
He did have the mental toughness and the odd crunching tackles in him, but he was nowhere near as good defensively as some are starting to say.
