The sequence immediately before that was crazy. After he received the pass from Johnson out wide, he tried to push forward but as many as 3 defenders started to converge on him. Finding his path blocked, he turned away from goal for a few metres and took 3 defenders with him, before then reversing towards goal again and then that gif happened.
And then there was that lost cause long ball that he chased down, rescued and fashioned a chance with. That one deserves a gif.
Torres was more clinical as a finisher and excellent in a goal-scoring situation with his close control and quick change in direction, but Suarez is a few levels higher when it comes to all-around skill and craft in conjuring goal-scoring opportunities. The guy is simply magical. If I were Mancini, I'd test Liverpool's and the player's resolve by putting in an audacious bid for him after offloading Dzeko and Balotelli.
One interesting point raised in a Soccernet report - Sturridge doesn't get the assist for Suarez's goal because he didn't touch the ball in the build-up to it. The assist that wasn't.
