Teenager traumatised by gang rape
The girl's ordeal last several hours
A 15-year-old girl was raped four times after being attacked by a gang of four teenagers in Liverpool.
The girl was walking across a disused railway bridge in Norris Green when she was pushed down the embankment and raped under a bridge.
Merseyside Police said the girl was left extremely shaken and traumatised by her ordeal, which lasted nearly three hours on Friday.
Det Ch Insp Tim Keelan described it as an "appalling assault".
The girl was approached by a group of six youths, all white and aged between 15 and 17, after waving goodbye to her friends at 2015 BST on Friday.
I would like to reassure local residents that this kind of assault remains rare, and that we are determined to trace those responsible as soon as possible
Det Ch Insp Tim Keelan
She was raped by four of the boys while the other two stayed next to a red mini-motorbike at the side of the embankment.
Police said the group ran away after the attack and the girl reported her ordeal to the police from a public phone box shortly after 2300 BST.
Her mobile phone was stolen by one of the boys.
"We are determined to bring those responsible to justice and firmly believe someone will know who these youths are," Mr Keelan said.
"I would like to reassure local residents that this kind of assault remains rare, and that we are determined to trace those responsible as soon as possible.
"However I would remind women and teenagers to always take care when they go out at night and avoid walking through isolated or unlit areas and ensure you always walk home in pairs or a group and not go unaccompanied."
One word... "Sick".
