I hope the board doesn't turn on him when he's not quite as fantastic as last season this coming season.

Lol that's the coutinho money gone then.

I think we all know contracts mean fuck all in football but yeah good news, I guess

Like I said. Ends speculation for this summer right? Thats a good thing.

Theres a difference between cynicism and fucking misery.
Brendan strides both like a colossus.

Like Bruce Dickenson stands at the front of a Maiden stage.

Not necessarily. Torres signed a contract and stayed for two seasons. The next two stayed for one season. Extrapolating that trend forward, Salah might well be in his final weeks.

We actually get more time out of players like Can who let their contracts run down. At least then there's a definite, fixed end.
Both Coutinho and Suarez actually stayed for less time than their ORIGINAL contracts stated; signing a big-money extension meant they left earlier.

Of course, what it does do is guarantee a large transfer fee when Salah is sold next summer, which is all FSG care about and all that this contract actually means.

Fuck you Brendan in your skintight leather trousers, trumpeting doom like an air-raid siren.

Look, it sends a positive message out, whatever is said. Plus, it is good for all our nerves this summer, in that, lets face it, if we make a big signing or two it will be- "there's the Salah money being spent". In this age of cynicism I think we can at least find some joy in our most joyous player signing a new contract.

I really did think he'd be off this summer. There's no way he's leaving this year... he won't all of a sudden force a january move out of nowhere, and if we have another good season and improve, which I think we will, there's every chance he'll stay a while.

This is very good. Fuck Ronaldo and Messi, he's the best player in the world right now.

I know there was some kind of expert advising them on this hilarious "power stance", but lots of Tories seem to have a problem with all kinds of normal, human interactions - like talking, standing, shaking hands and all that.

That’s because they’re really lizards.

No one here is claiming he's not going to leave in the next five years because of this, but it's incredibly unlikely he'll leave this season now, which is the point.

Human being the key word there. Lizards finding it hard to integrate.
