Well thank God Roy is 'in the know' about Liverpool:

"I'll have to give it some thought but there are two possibilities," Hodgson told Liverpoolfc.tv. "Pepe Reina is one, and in some ways he's the obvious choice, but there's also Soto Kyrgiakos, who's going to start on Thursday.

"You choose someone with a good track record at the club who's been here for a number of years, and someone you know will have the right attitude that could possibly rub off on the other players."

Just ONE thing Roy.

Well he has been here a number of years.

Two 😀

16 Months 😛

I actually took his 'and' as separator, i.e. "someone with a good track record at the club who's been here for a number of years" in reference to Pepe and "someone you know will have the right attitude that could possibly rub off on the other players" as Soto, respectively, having named them in that sequence as his 2 'options'. 😛

I didn't, and I think Dirk was captain when he was purchased wasn't he?

So was Nando, and a couple of others I'm sure?

I'd have thought Deadly Dirk would have been in the frame before him anyway?
I would have thought so too. Maybe he's being rested? He looked a bit jaded against Spurs.

Kuyt's not playing is he?

If he is, then dirk. If not, pepe.
Whoever is chosen is captain until Gerrards back, not just the one game.

Here is the full article from the Official:

Pepe Reina and Sotirios Kyrgiakos are the two contenders to stand in as Liverpool captain over the next few games, Roy Hodgson has confirmed.

With Steven Gerrard not expected to return from a hamstring tear until at least the Newcastle game on December 11, and Jamie Carragher now ruled out for three months, the armband is available for fixtures against Steaua Bucharest, Aston Villa and Utrecht.

Hodgson has yet to make a decision as to who will wear it - though the boss has narrowed it down to two candidates.

Liverpoolfc.tv broke news on Tuesday morning that Carragher needs surgery on his dislocated shoulder and will not return to the starting XI until at least February.

Hodgson added: "It's a massive blow, especially on the back of Steven Gerrard's injury. From a situation where he didn't look to be in any danger he gets a serious injury - it's one of those things that is very difficult to take.

"He's an important person for the club. He's got that Liverpool mentality of old that we're not going to get beaten no matter what. He takes that on to the field and it can rub off on to the other players."

If Gerrard does make his return against Newcastle on 11th, then it'll be down to 2 games, Steaua away and Aston Villa at home. Pepe will be my choice.

He won't be playing will he? Are we just talking about tomorrow or in general?

EDIT: Soz, I quiffed.

Torres would be an interesting stopgap as captain, actually. It might inspire him to show a bit more fight.

Generally, though, you're better off with someone in central defence or midfield. And I'd rather the Greek than Lucas...

Yeah, why not give it to Torres? Would be really interesting, and a sign to him how much we value him.

Reina, Torres or Kuyt.

There are no other options, Budgie.
I don't think Soto is a bad shout for tomorrow though, but if he gets the nod longterm it means he's almost destined to play in every game, and I'm not sure that's a good thing, especially when the likes of Wilson are hoping they can force their way in.

I do like Soto but he has got fuck ups in him.

got to be reina and by a distance as well.
Yeah I'd have thought so, then Kuyt probably.

I really don't think kuyt would make a good captain. He puts the effort in, but I can't see him bollocking players..

What about Lucas ?
*rage levels start to build*

As Captain, Lucas possessed a sense of authority which Steven Gerrard has been lacking for years.

Stevie really could learn from the young Brazilian.

There is a thread on RAWK about this too.

It actually seemed to start off on similar lines to this thread, then the following was posted

I want (Lucas) to get it

Does he give his all for the shirt? Check

Does he go full on into tackles against fuckers twice his size? Check

Does he take full on blows and still pick himself up and gets back in the mix? Check

Is he fearless little bastard? Check

Has he had captaining experience before? The boy is a youth world cup winning captain, nuff said.

Give the little gurrier the armband, and watch him grow even more. And yes, I'm being deadly fucking serious

Followed by this

I am convinced. Give Lucas the armband. He has probably been our best outfield player all year, he is starting to boss teams on a consistent basis, and he plays in the heart of our midfield. Also, he has been here for 3-4 years.

And it was downhill from there really

I'm speechless. I've heard about RAWK valuing Lucas too highly but I though it is probably exaggerated a bit. I had no idea they are this mental.

They are indeed *that* mental. It's full of mentals. It's the most excruciatingly awful LFC in the world, and I hate each and every one of them with a passion. CUNTS.

That is all.

You don't hate people this time of year. Come on. Get in the Christmas mood.

I still can't get over this part. It will probably come haunt me in my dreams.

Give it to Torres. I think it would be good for him just in the short term. Might pull his socks up a bit.
