Last time we played them away, this was our team:

We've come a long way.

Full strength team please.

LTW, the last time we played Napoli away from Anfield was a couple of months ago 😉

If it's anything like the preseason friendly was we will batter them, but we all know that won't happen. They're not the same side as under Sarri. I expect a win though

They couldn't even pose for a picture properly.

Half the front row are actually falling over.

Thats a fucking horror show of a line up. Our current side would best that team 5 - 0 easily

This is not the match thread, is it? I think a picture of Konchesky, Jovanovic and Paulsen all together in the OP might undo all the lucky charms we’ve been cultivating on here.

Yo be honest I am not sure I can even name all 11 of them … at least I'd need to think about it a bit.

As a control experiment, to ensure this isn't just down to early onset dementia, put an 88/89 team photo in front of me & I'd name them all in the blink of an eye

Jonjo, Reina, Ngog, Skrtel, Kelly, CP
Lil Jay, PK, Milan "the Snake" Jovanovic, Carra, Babel

Lived through the dark ages, I did.

I used PK and CP because I can't bring myself to type out their full names. It's like I've blocked them out too.

I do accept the others in the photo though, so I have a low bar.

My memory is so confused, I remember watching Rafa being kicked out and the next memory I have is some wise old owl watching over a bunch of woodland creatures while they scamper aimlessly around what's left of their forest home...and then Kenny Dalglish shows up. I'm pretty sure I have a six month long "screen memory" where I replaced watching Liverpool with watching The Animals Of Farthing Wood.

I want Salah to start because every game is a chance for him to start getting his confidence back by scoring and the familiarity of playing in Italy might help. I would rest Mane since he played both of the Chelsea games and I'd like to give both Sturridge and Shaqiri a start. The problem with this selection is that nobody wants to play on the left – Salah is less effective there, Shaqiri even less so and Sturridge is not a winger. There is a way to solve it by changing the formation to 4-2-2-2 and playing Keita as half-winger/half-midfielder (it suits him and he did that at times in Leipzig). As for others, I would maybe also give VVD a breather so he can recover from the rib injury and perhaps also Clyne for TAA who looked a bit knackered on Saturday.

4-2-2-2:
---------------Alisson----------------
--------Gomez---Matip-------------
Clyne------------------------Robbo
---------Hendo---Fabinho---------
---Shaqiri------------------Keita---
-----------Salah----Sturridge-----

I like 4-2-2-2. It can move fluidly between that and 4-1-3-1-1 and 4-1-1-2-1-1
