Moyes was sacked from his role as manager of Manchester United in May
Former Manchester United manager David Moyes is being investigated by police after a scuffle in a Lancashire wine bar, the BBC understands.
Officers were called to the Emporium bar in Clitheroe at about 22:00 BST on Wednesday following reports that a 23-year-old man had been assaulted.
Lancashire Police said there were "a number of different accounts" about what had happened.
A spokesman said no-one had been arrested and enquiries were continuing.
The scuffle happened outside the Emporium, a spokesman for the bar said.
Moyes was sacked from his role as manager of the Red Devils in May after ten months in the role.
Before he took over at United, he was in charge at Everton for over a decade.

I actually heard about this from a mate. Apparently he got beaten to a pulp, but as he staggered from the scene he was heard muttering "you don't have to win to be a winner, but I am a winner"

Police are investigating an alleged minor scuffle in a Clitheroe wine bar at the same time as former Manchester United manager David Moyes was having a drink with a friend.

Mr Moyes (51), who succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson as manager at Old Trafford in July 2013 but was sacked last month after a disappointing season, was in The Emporium wine bar and restaurant in Moor Lane with another man on Wednesday evening.
Lancashire Constabulary today issued the following statement: “Police are investigating a report of an assault at the Emporium wine bar in Clitheroe.
“Officers attended the bar at about 10 pm yesterday (Wednesday, May 21st) and it was reported that a 23-year-old local man had been assaulted by a 51-year-old man. He did not require hospital treatment.
“Inquiries are ongoing and we are speaking to a number of people to try to establish the circumstances.
“There are a number of differing accounts which we need to work through to try to establish exactly what has happened. No-one has been arrested at this stage.”

Some nob probably winding him up

Feel sorry for him to be honest...

I'm kind of with you on this. When he was the scum manager he was fair game and ripe for some piss take. Truth is though I always liked him. No need for some twat to go and have a pop - which is what I assume happened. (based on nothing at all!)

I would never want to fight a Scotsman with old man strength. I bet Moyes could rip a phone book in half quite easily like.

Why the fuck was he in Clitheroe. He should have been out on Deansgate. He'd have no bother there, every one would consider him a hero for trashing the OOTers.

A 23-year-old man who claims he was assaulted by former Manchester United manager David Moyes, has received a barrage of abuse and threats on social networking sites after revealing his side of the story.
Joshua Gillibrand, said he had been the victim of an unprovoked attack while stood outside a wine bar in his hometown of Clitheroe, Lancashire.
Some eyewitnesses have claimed they saw Mr Moyes, 51, become embroiled in a scuffle outside the Emporium Wine Bar in which a man was pushed, lost his balance and crashed into some tables.
Mr Gillibrand, a joiner, has since claimed he had to be treated in hospital for concussion and a bloody nose.
But he received little sympathy over the incident, with scores of people bombarding his Facebook page with abusive comments and even some physical threats.

One person posted: “Mouth off and then cry like a little girl when you get a slap? You little punk.”
While another wrote: “Going public with this is really going to backfire on poor Joshua. I bet he won’t be out drinking this weekend.”
There were also some threats in which he was warned he could be attacked the next time he is out socialising.
Lancashire Constabulary confirmed they were investigating an allegation of assault at the Emporium Bar on Wednesday evening, but a spokesman said they were still working to establish what had happened and no one had been arrested.
According to onlookers, Mr Moyes was drinking with some friends in the bar and had stepped outside momentarily when the scuffle took place.
During the brief incident, a table was knocked over and some glasses were smashed, before Mr Moyes returned inside the bar.
A short time later two police officers visited the bar and spoke to Mr Moyes.
A police spokesman said inquiries were ongoing and officers were intending to speak to Mr Moyes and Mr Gillibrand further.
They are also intending to examine CCTV footage and interview a number of other witnesses who were in or near the bar when the incident occurred.

I am now firmly on Moyes side. Look at the state of that.
He looks like a right wab. You don't hear the word wab in ages and then suddenly you use it twice in a few days.

I'm certain he gets threats on a regular basis.

...and then Rolf Harris, DLT and the ghost of Jimmy Savile turned up, all of them pressing themselves against me as Moyes kept punching me. It was hellish. These people are disgusting. Er, do you want my bank account details or do I get this in a brown bag?
