FWIW, I think Pacheco, based on whatever I've seen of him, is well better than what Yesil and Morgan have looked, and really deserves a chance.

As an aside, if Assaidi doesn't play, he's defo sleeping with Rodgers' missus.
 
I don't agree at all with all this 'Yesil is not ready'. He may not have the nouse for the PL yet but he certainy has enough for Young Boys with all his Germany U21 experience and he is an exciting striker who really knows where the net is.

Or is injured as per the rumour on Saturday that he was due to start against Wigan until failing a late fitness test

This is true, but Pacheco has never ever looked like an out and out striker to me.
 
If we beat Young Boys and Anji beat Udinese we will be through, so get the job done this week and send the kids to Italy.

Not going to be included in the squad tomorrow but will instead play for the under twenty ones on Friday apparently.
 
According to the Echo, this is the front three: Assaidi - Shelvey - Cole

Rest of the team:
Reina, Wisdon, Skrtek, Carra, Downing, Hendo, Sahin, Suso

proabably

he came on in that position against wigan and i said that he's trying out other options because he's got no faith in morgan, yesil, etc atm if called upon.

Shelvey needs some goals to get back to form anyway so hopefully its a risk that will pay off. Personally, i'd play sterling as the false 9

I think the false 9 role would be far more suited to a Pacheco/Suso type player but if it's a confidence building thing for Jonjo then I can see where he's coming from.

I dont quite understand the formation. Suso will be playing in front of sahin + whoever tomight, yet shelvey will be occupying a similar position....

Surely we needed a flat midfield 3 in order to utilise the false 9?

No we need an isoceles midfield 3 to form an attacking trapezium utilising a false 9
