Milner applauded Konate and shared his thoughts on him having watched him in training.

“He has been brilliant,” Milner said. “He’s a great lad, funny guy. He’s very strong. He’s quick, good on the ball. I’m really impressed with him.
“It’s not easy when you don’t get into the team straight away. He would have been itching to get out there and play at Anfield.
“He’s a top class player, he’s going to be a seriously good player for this team. Watching a few games on the sidelines hasn’t done him any harm.”

I think he’ll be slowly introduced to the team and will get his big chance later in the season. We all know Matip and Gomez will have a period out.

He does look like he has all the attributes to succeed.

I was good to see him playing at RCB. I recall some discussion that he had only ever played at LCB and so being understudy to VVD looked like limiting his chances even more. I thought it was solid, made a couple of good tackles and dealt well with the tricky Zaha and later on Edouard.

What I've seen from him so far is a enough to convince me that he can become a top/world class player very soon.
Still has a lot to learn and we've got two great teachers in Matip and Van Dijk.

Come Saturday’s rematch they could field the incomparable Virgil van Dijk and the £36m debutant Ibrahima Konaté. “The potential is outstanding,” said Jürgen Klopp.

There were glimpses of it: when Konaté kept up with Wilfried Zaha as they chased a diagonal ball and as he forced Christian Benteke wide before he shot. Perhaps the lone time he was caught out was by Odsonne Édouard before Alisson rescued Liverpool (Me : replays showed it was Konate's foot that diverted the ball for a corner).

“The Premier League teaches you harsh lessons,” reflected Klopp. “It is a special league.” But in Konaté’s maturity and attributes there were indications that Liverpool’s recruitment team may have excelled again. “Physicality, technique, game understanding, it’s all there,” said Klopp.

Isn't Konate himself quite injury prone? I know he's only 22 but in 4 seasons there he's started 55 times....and come on as a sub a further 11 times.

Yes then it’ll be Gomez then Nat Phillips then we’ll go unbeaten for the rest of the season.
