While I think Milner is a quality player who has shown he can play anywhere but has been most effective on the right side of midfield, his age and lack of games would I think him restless. I would rather we keep him but would totally understand if he is sold.
Henderson has shown glimpses of class and his attitude is commendable but I think with the arrival of Kieta and possibly a DM, I think he's days are numbered.

The only people thinking we might ever sign a DM under this manager are us lot!

Milner will get us nothing so it's better to keep him if he is up for it.

Hendo has surely priced himself out of a move. Ox came for 35-40M in his last year of contract, we should be looking at at least 50M for Hendo? But who will pay that?

£50 Mill?!

Milner wore himself out playing left back that season. It meant he kept Moreno out of the side so it had to be done.

Milner might have one move left in him before he retires. I'd keep him for his experience alone.

Fucking hell i choked on my drink then. 50m for Hendo? hahahahahahahahaha

He plays like someone who has passed his peak which isn't ideal. Something needs to change for him to find his old style again. I fear a summer in Russia isn't going to help as the answer is most likely "rest"

I suspect this is Milner's last season here; looks like he's losing some physical attributes compared to last year and that process of aging is not going to slow down. Hendo is here to stay whether his detractors like it or not – however with Keita coming in (and probably one more new CM if both Can and Milner leave next summer) he will have a lot of competition for starts.

So you will let him go for less than Ox or even Sigurdsson?

Siggurdson is a better player than Henderson, plus Everton were desperate to flaunt the cash and he was still overpriced. Also just because we way overpaid for Oxlade Chamerlain doesn't mean somebody else would do the same for Henderson.

In the pub the other day the consensus was that Henderson isn't shit, it's just he's a 20m type player. Which would be massive for Stoke or whatever, but Liverpool's captain needs to be an 80m type player at least. I say consensus because I was erring towards, no he's actually shit, and there was a dick there that thinks he's good enough for a title challenging team. But out of about a dozen dudes we pretty much setlled on, he's ok, but we are used to, expect, need and demand brilliant, which he is never going to be

As for Milner, his professionalism, attitude, work rate, reliability and versatility put him in a totally different bracket. He's a great team player if not a great player.

We should be looking to replace these 2 next summer but keep them in the squad if that makes sense...

They are both starting to look more like players who arent 1st choice starters if we can become a more regular CL qualifying team.

Good hard working pro's but the quality isnt top notch, we need better quality in the middle and we should look to improve every year.

There should be no sentiment if you want to win.

You need players like Milner if you're to compete for top honours. He's a good, steady player who will never give you less than 7/10. He's technically underrated and his versatility is a huge plus.

As for Henderson he just hasn't developed as much as I'd hoped. After his strong second season I thought he was going to progress and get better and better, but his injury hit third season and his subsequent shift to playing 6 - which he doesn't excel at - has confirmed that we need better in his position. He's never been able to control a game when the tide starts turning against us. Many a time we've need a calming but dominant influence in the middle of the park and instead we get Henderson's hustle and bustle, frantic, positionally suspect approach, and it costs us.

He'll give a perfect post-match interview and I'm sure he's brilliant off the pitch. Unfortunately we need more on it from a Liverpool Captain.

I'd have nothing against keeping both but Henderson needs to step down as a core first teamer.

It's interesting to see Henderson start on the bench in an important CL game - wonder if it's a sign of things to come or not.

It’s just part of the rotation, no?

Henderson was great when he was the willing runner mostly on the right side of midfield in 2012-14.

Sadly he just hasn’t shown enough to suggest that he can do anything else to the standard we need. Certainly he just doesn’t seem to have enough in his toolbox to be a certain starter in the center of midfield. Not in a Klopp team anyway. Good squad player so I wouldn’t sell but he’d be a bit of a filler for me rather than a starter.

Next game, as we're experimenting, play Milner at RB and Robertson at LB and see how things go.
